Worley is currently searching for an experienced Engineering Manager to join our team in Abu Dhabi.

Major Accountabilities Of Position

Department Operations – Create/maintain department guidelines. Manage department organizational structure and maintain organizational chart. Propose/execute department sub-groups and project team structures. Contribute to inter-discipline, client, vendor, or inter-branch dispute resolution. Track department performance statistics for staffing levels and chargeability. Set and maintain workshare and GDC targets. Maintain chargeability. Review/approve employee overhead expenses. Approve engineering overhead expenses (eg software). Review and approve proposal manhour estimates. Authorize computer access security levels.

Health, safety, and environmental – Support health, safety, and environmental (HSE) programs. Facilitate atmosphere of concern for HSE issues.

Business development support – Facilitate maintenance of latest career information on employee resumes. Support Business Development (BD) proposal efforts. Maintain client contact.

Employee allocation – Assign Project Engineering Manager(s) to projects and proposals. Track/control/authorize vacation hours for direct reports. Ensure Discipline Managers create long term staffing projection (up to 6 months). Approve vacation requests for direct employees. Ensure department vacation coverage and workarounds. Facilitate employee reallocation and unplanned employee absence activities.

Employee reductions – Facilitate work share opportunities. Determine employment issues and market pressures. Identify chronic or systemic employee concerns. Conduct planned reductions or facilitate unplanned employee reductions.

Technical competency assurance program – Create/maintain department Engineering Practices. Facilitate employee adherence to engineering/design Practices. Facilitate department software verification. Facilitate standardization of calculations/analysis/studies/reports. Facilitate standardization of equipment specifications/data sheets/selection. Facilitate contribution to engineering/design knowledge. Facilitate intranet based technical resources. Enforce adherence to regulatory codes and standards. Enforce adherence to engineering laws and guidelines. Enforce adherence to client guidelines whenever practical. Enforce adherence to corporate guidelines.

Quality assurance/ quality control program – Develop and maintain location Technical Stewardship Plan and Technical Peer Review Schedule. Ensure technical employees receive training on relevant EMS Standards, Procedures etc. Maintain typical technical audit questions and methodology. Plan/conduct/issue technical audits. Facilitate engineering/design technical compliance spot checks. Verify adherence to technical competencies. Chair technical quality meetings and incorporate quality program findings into employee development program and department documentation.

Knowledge / Experience / Competencies Required

Full time Bachelor of Engineering Degree in related field. Chartered Engineer (Preferred); Generally 20+ years experience in hydrocarbons project delivery; Typically 10+ years supervisory and/or management experience; Experience in all phases of Project Delivery (Concept, FEED, Detailed Design, Construction and Commissioning); First hand experience with Workshare and use of GDC; Manages work directly or indirectly through Managers.

Ability to visualize and design new concepts and ideas related to functional area of expertise; Broad knowledge of business operations and ability to implement and sometimes lead organizational change effectively; Solutions are derived from interpreted and applied general information.

The ability to effectively communicate and present complex program proposals and reports to executive level management is critical. Ability to persuade and influence others is critical. Participative management style with a cooperative team approach. Proven leadership skills in multi-cultural and multi-national environments. Commitment to customer service and ability to work in a team-oriented environment.
