Work location: Rogers Corporation’s Innovation Center is located at the Kostas Research Institute for Homeland Security on Northeastern University’s Burlington Campus.
Transportation: Having a personal vehicle to commute to and from work is highly recommend. Carpool availability is not guaranteed. A free Northeastern sponsored shuttle from the Boston campus is available for students to use. The shuttle operates on a limited schedule and is on a first-come-first-served basis.
Essential Functions:
- Understand the needs of a new solution for electronic, transportation, or consumer application
- Understand the current product solutions offered by Rogers and identify the gaps
- In conjunction with our senior engineers, collaboratively develop and refine experimental plans designed to address gaps that are uncovered
- Run experiments and / or simulations to address the established plans of approach
- Share and discuss data with other engineers and consultants, and help decide on strategies for further action
- Troubleshoot general process issues and problems in a creative, timely manner
- At least 50% of the engineer’s time will be spent doing hands-on laboratory work.
Qualifications:
- Pursuing an Engineering or Science major
- Completed two years or more of study related to thermal / fluid sciences
- GPA greater than 3.0
- Prepared to work in a lab setting
- Can work independently as well as in a collaborative, team environment
- Due to ITAR regulations, applicant must be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prefer MS candidates; majors include Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemistry, Materials, Energy Systems; graduate classes in thermal / fluid sciences
- Some knowledge of batteries and battery cell technology
- Some knowledge of polymers, ceramics, and metals
- Experience working in a chemistry lab or safety-conscious environment
- Experience with MatLab, Python, Ansys Mechanical, Ansys Fluent, or AutoCAD (SolidWorks)
- Experience working with machinery and instrumentation
