AFRY

Company Description

AFRY Management Consulting, the leading advisor to the world’s energy, forest and bio-based industries. Our dedicated team of over 500 consultants, across 17 offices on 3 continents, provides strategic and operational advice across the value chain, underpinned by deep expertise and market insights.

Our vision is to be the most recommended advisor for the energy transition, and our team counts on outstanding energy experts, who provide high added-value advice to investors, regulators, and all stakeholders of this capital-intensive sector. We offer strategic and commercial advice, develop policy and regulations, model systems and markets and support transactions. National policy decisions, new private investments, or large transaction, are assessed with our inputs.

We pride ourselves to back our analyses with unrivalled modelling capabilities of commodities markets dynamics, that we develop in-house. We are a highly technological consulting firm, steered by a diverse team with hands-on experience in oil, gas, carbon emissions, power generation, electricity and gas networks, retail, trading, mergers and acquisitions, finance, regulation, engineering, or software development. Our geographical coverage includes all Europe, the Middle East, large parts of North and South America, parts of Asia, and Parts of northern Africa; we seek to keep expanding with no limits!

In enhancing our services and continued growth, we are looking for a sharp Senior Consultant who can lead projects from Proposal to Delivery, guide our clients and our team of Consultants and Analysts, challenge our thoughts with external experience and innovative ideas, and expand our knowledge on complementary areas. Whilst you are not strictly expected to sell new projects and will not have a sales target, your solid experience and proactivity shall support our business offerings and preparation of proposals.

You will work mostly out of our Madrid office, however you will occasionally travel to client meetings and events, and join over 250 experts spread across many offices in Europe, Middle East, Asia and the Americas who regularly collaborate across offices to deliver projects. You will have a strong exposure to clients, and communicate complex matters to decision makers and senior energy experts.

You will have the opportunity to strengthen your knowledge and experience to become an industry leader, backed by an experienced team and unique computing power, within a stimulating and supportive environment. You will make a strong impact in relevant private and public energy-related decisions.

As a primary responsibility, you will support AFRY’s consulting activities for a wide range of clients – including major financial investors, international oil and gas companies, utilities, government and regulatory bodies – in Spain, Portugal and Latin America. For individuals looking for international experience we can also offer secondments to other offices.

Job Description

Below we explain the main skills that we look for in our Senior Consultants.

  • A Master’s degree, or higher, in maths, engineering, economics or science related subject
  • Advanced analytical and quantitative skills. We undertake a lot of complex analysis, a good proportion of which is numerical, so we are looking for people with an aptitude for complex quantitative and qualitative analysis, statistics, manipulation of large data and diverse mathematical models. This includes the ability to pay attention to detail and use MS Excel proficiently, understanding programming logic, and creative problem solving skills.
  • Excellent team working and leadership. All the work we do requires team working and you will be responsible for the delivery of the whole team. This involves planning the work, supporting the team, anticipating challenges, leading by example, and accountability towards the client (with more Senior support when required).
  • Being fluent in Spanish and English. On the one hand our clients are located in Spanish and non-Spanish speaking countries, and on the other hand our work requires day-to-day collaboration – in English – with other AFRY offices.
  • Writing and communication skills. Report-writing and presenting in public is a core part of our work, therefore we are also looking for the ability to explain complex information in a clear and logical way in English, both in writing and orally.
