Project Overview:

The Pacific Labour Facility (PLF) facilitates seasonal and longer-term work opportunities for Pacific workers in Australia. It connects Australian employers with Pacific workers under the newly introduced Pacific Australia Labour Mobility (PALM) scheme which combines the existing Pacific Labour Scheme (PLS) and Seasonal Worker Programme (SWP).

Role Overview:

The Employer Onboarding Officer is part of the team that provides support for the onboarding of prospective and newly approved employers to ensure the process of becoming an approved employer (AE) remains smooth and efficient, whilst safeguarding the reputation of the program. This will include assisting prospective AEs to understand the application process, recruitment requirements and ongoing employer obligations of the deed and guidelines, and conducting site visits in line with risk assessment processes.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Drafting of formal site visit reports and recommendations for Department of Employment and Workplace Relations on employer suitability
  • Providing support to prospective employers through the application and approval processes, answering queries and providing information on topical issues
  • Supporting site visits to employers to ensure PALM scheme requirements are understood and upheld
  • Identify and promote opportunities for low sending countries, female participation and disability engagement to new AEs
  • Contribute to the development of appropriate actions plans for new and emerging industries
  • Maintain accurate records (using MIS) of all site visits, compliance and other activities and employer contact/outreach
  • Build strong working relationships with potential and approved employers
  • Regular interstate and/or regional travel, as required

Required Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated relevant work experience in operational officer roles, administration, or industry engagement, and compliance activities
  • Strong understanding and practical experience of Australian industry priorities and challenges, as well as experience engaging with multiple internal teams and external stakeholders in a government/private enterprise environment
  • High level of interpersonal skills and customer/client relationship management
  • Driver’s license and willingness to drive to regional locations
  • Flexibility to undertake frequent travel, including after hours and weekends

The successful candidate will be offered an initial contract to 30 June 2023. This is a Brisbane based role with options for flexible working. Candidates who are willing to relocate for the position must do so at their own expense.
