General Description of the Organization:

Orange is a non-governmental civil society organization devoted to alleviating the suffering and improving the sustainability mechanisms of the conflict-affected population.

Orange partners directly with the affected populations delivering humanitarian and development programmes, Livelihood, Education, and Protection, to enable them to improve their living practices and their sustainability mechanisms.

Orange also collaborates with national and international non-governmental organizations, local initiatives responding to the humanitarian Syrian crisis with capacity development programmes, to be better equipped with the skills they need to prepare and respond to affected population’s needs and to ensure that these communities, which we work within, are ready for any future disasters.

Job purpose:

This is an urgent call to join the efforts of Orange to deliver the lifesaving aids and support to the most affected population by the earthquake disaster. This call prioritize applicants who have physical presence in the targeted locations.

On 8th February 2023, Orange initiated an emergency response in both Syria and Türkiye targeting the affected communities by the earthquake disaster through delivery of life saving aids, ready to eat foodie items, winterization items, non-foodie items, hygiene materials, and PSS services. Accordingly, Orange calls for aids delivery team players to contribute to the efforts to mitigate the impact of the disaster.

The Emergency Response team leader will be part of the emergency response team established by Orange and will play significant role within the areas affected by the earthquake in delivering aid to the most vulnerable people. The team leader will work closely with the project manager to deliver any possible aids as per the arriving supplies as well as participating to the delivery of intangible support to the affected population. The Team leader will also lead the activities planned for the response and act as a representative focal point of Orange at the targeted locations and communities. The team leader will also participate to the assessment and identification of the needs and provide appropriate feedback as per the detected needs.

Duties, objectives and competencies:

  • Lead the emergency response team members to deliver the required aids in timely and quality manners.
  • Support the project manager in building the decision regarding the appropriate response as per the detected needs.
  • Play a coordination role with the local authorities and represent Orange with consideration to its adopted manners and ethics in the targeted locations and distribution sites.
  • Maintain effective communication with the project manager and ensure timely communication of existing issues.
  • Participate to the reporting requirements and provide appropriate achievement reporting on daily basis.
  • Lead to the distribution in the field in all planned locations such collective centres, community centres, door-to-door, etc. as per the agreed distribution plan.
  • Maintain effective communication with the other team leaders and the fellow team members.
  • Lead to all assessment, data collection, reporting, needs identification efforts using the applied data collection tools and methods adopted by Orange as per the dedicated areas.
  • Adhere to all the humanitarian principles and the agreed distribution standards of Orange.
  • Maintain high flexibility in terms of the response as per the urgency.
  • Support to deliver all relevant means of verification regarding the aids delivery in all means (cash, vouchers, in-kind, etc.)
  • Any other duties as agreed with the Emergency Project Manager.

Required qualifications:

  • Bachelor or equivalent degree, higher degree will be an advantage.
  • At least 2 years of experience working for NGOs will be an advantage.
  • Technical knowledge of at least two of the following areas of expertise (cash, voucher, NFI, hygiene promotion, nutrition, protection).
  • Very good understanding of the project area of operation, geographically and traditionally.
  • Excellent knowledge about documentation and archiving systems.
  • Understands rights and protection issues of refugees, children and women.
  • Proven leadership, communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and cope with competing demands under tight deadlines
  • Ability to cope with high workload and stress.
  • Strong initiative and self-motivated, with a commitment to teamwork
  • Flexible, enthusiastic and willing to learn from others.
  • Ability to travel to the relevant subdistricts in the relevant Provence as required.
  • Excellent level of Arabic, English skills will be an advantage.
