About this opportunity…**

We have a fantastic new opportunity for an Emergency Response Officer to join our team covering the North of England.

You will coordinate the wider team and Emergency Response Volunteers within the area to deliver a wide range of activities, including responding to major incidents, fires and floods. You will work as part of the emergency response team to further develop the British Red Cross emergency planning role, to engage with external o rganisations and support our volunteers to build local resilience to emergencies.

The post requires regular evening and weekend work, being part of a regular 24-hour duty officer on-call rota and potential emergency response duties at any time throughout the year.

This role offers hybrid working and will involve regular work from a British Red Cross office within the North East of England, North Yorkshire or North Cumbria, therefore candidates should consider their proximity to one of these locations when a pplying.

The Health & Local Crisis Response (HLCR) service supports people in the space between hospital and home and responds to the needs of people in crisis following an emergency; maintaining an extensive network of external relationships across health, social care, and emergency services. We are a small team all connected by the shared goal of supporting people in crisis.

This role could be for you if …

  • You have experience of delivering high quality services to the public
  • You have experience of developing or working in multi-sector partnerships at a tactical and/or operational level
  • You can work flexibly and be adaptable to change
  • You have expertise of dealing with complex situations and tasks
  • You have knowledge of legislation relevant to emergency response and planning. You can also contribute to the development of operating plans
  • Knowledge of Health and Safety practices
  • You have an understanding of how to improve service quality
  • You have the ability to collate and interpret a range of management information including statistical information and user feedback as well as creating and monitoring budgets and data
  • You have a full UK driving licence and access to vehicle
