3rd Shift About The Opportunity

Position Summary

The Electrical Maintenance Technician is responsible for installing, troubleshooting and repairing electrical systems, hydraulic, pneumatic and electronic components of industrial machinery and equipment in a manufacturing environment.

Key Duties And Responsibilities

  • Perform electrical and mechanical functions plant wide
  • Install power supply wiring and conduit such as EMT, O-CAL, Rigid conduit, MC cable, strut, cable trays
  • Troubleshoot electrical components, wiring diagrams, transformers, motors, panels and circuits
  • Install, maintain and repair electrical systems such as switch gears, motor controls, electrical panels CT cabinets, conveyor systems, lighting and power supplies
  • Perform routine equipment Preventative Maintenance
  • Perform emergency repairs as needed

Essential To This Position

  • Ensure operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements on engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and production machines; following diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, manufacturer’s instructions, and engineering specifications; troubleshooting malfunctions
  • Work with production personnel to troubleshoot mechanical or electrical issues
  • Work in conjunction with outside contractors and/or vendors as well as OEM’s to troubleshoot and make repairs to plant equipment
  • Locate sources of problems by observing mechanical devices in operation; listening for problems; using precision measuring and testing instruments
  • Wire and install AC/DC motors, drives, racks and motion control equipment
  • Perform electrical troubleshooting using the proper tools and PPE
  • Control downtime by performing routine preventive maintenance techniques
  • Fabricate repair parts by using machine shop instrumentation and equipment
  • Maintain continuity among work teams by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs
  • Use computer system to document work and account for parts
  • Communicate with the team using verbal, written or electronic communication including phone, email, radio, or other
  • Maintain safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations
  • Participate on Emergency Response Team (required)
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management/supervisors. Set up and operate all shop equipment
  • Work in a safe and efficient manner using all personal protective and safety equipment and devices that are required, and comply with company safety policies and procedures
  • Identify and eliminate work hazards
  • Know proper lock-out/tag out minor servicing procedures
  • Conduct safe and proper clean up procedures

Perform other duties as assigned by management/supervisors

Trade School Certification or Industrial Electrician Certification desired

Skills & Experience

Knowledge, Skills, Or Abilities Desired

  • Ability to work overtime, and/or weekends as needed to maintain production schedules
  • Ability to work independently
  • Ability to read Electrical Schematics/diagrams
  • Skills related to different types of power systems, AC, DC, Single Phase, 3 Phase
  • Ability to perform Mechanical repairs to equipment
  • Understanding of PLCs, Drives, Programming, Relay Logic
  • Knowledge and compliance of safety practices such as lockout/tagout/, NFPA 70/E/archflash, protection and proper use of PPE

Additional Requirements

  • Electrical Degree or equivalent required.
  • Safety sensitive position – ability to work in a constant state of alertness and a safe manner
  • Ability to work overtime and weekends as required based upon the needs of the business
  • Ability to work on a rotating shift as needed
  • Ability to effectively work in teams: meet deadlines and responsibilities to help team meet goals, listen to others and value opinions, promote a team atmosphere
  • Ability to work in a production-based environment with moving equipment and people
  • Ability to interact and communicate effectively with a wide variety of roles
  • Ability to read and understand machine part lists, preventative maintenance manuals, schematics and blueprints
  • Proficient computer skills including the ability to navigate and perform needed duties on CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System)
  • Ability to use rules, calipers, micrometers, and other measuring instruments
  • Ability to operate equipment including machines, alignment tools, high lifts, forklifts, boom lifts, scissor lifts, etc.
  • Knowledge of AC/DC circuits, motors and drives, PLC, and instrumentation and process controls
