Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical and Computer Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 3 years of work experience in consumer electronics/embedded systems design.
  • Experience in prototype bring-up and debugging, functional verification, and manufacturing support. Experience with electrical engineering fundamentals (i.e. designing digital and/or analog systems).
  • Ability to travel internationally 20% of time.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, or Electrical and Computer Engineering.
  • Experience with design of cell phone baseband, embedded systems, processor architecture, various communication protocols (especially USB C, SPI, I2C, UART, MIPI, DSI), Python scripting, C++, and Cadence/Allegro.
  • Comfort in a lab environment and want to be in the details (soldering, oscilloscopes, data acquisition) with an enthusiasm for engineering.

Starting at concept creation, the Google Hardware team architects, designs, develops, validates, and continues to support the product through end of life. Our Hardware Design Engineers are an integral part of the entire process, especially involved in the system design, factory bring up, and test/validation cycles of the project.

The Google Pixel team focuses on designing and delivering the world’s most helpful mobile experience. The team works on shaping the future of Pixel devices and services through some of the most advanced designs, techniques, products, and experiences in consumer electronics. This includes bringing together the best of Google’s artificial intelligence, software, and hardware to build global smartphones and create transformative experiences for users across the world.

Responsibilities

  • Perform product feasibility studies including printed circuit board component area placement and circuit implementation and routing studies.
  • Contribute to the electrical design and validation of Google’s future hardware phone products. Focus on digital interfaces (USB C, SPI, I2C, UART, PCIe, and various MIPI standards), ASIC, and memory.
  • Perform electrical engineering tasks related to sub-system designs including schematic capture and circuit signal integrity simulation. Work with PCB/Flex CAD team on proper layout and routing.
  • Create designs on multiple mediums: rigid multi-layer HDI PCB, multi-layer FPC, hybrid rigid/FPC assemblies. Work with the validation team on circuit verification and review verification data.
  • Bring design to mass production by reviewing factory test requirements, assisting in software bring up, and work with manufacturer to ensure successful build. Debug/resolve any functional or parametric issues.
