Polaris is seeking an Electrical Engineer or Electro-Mechanical Engineer to join the Central Advanced Technology team. This role is essential in planning and executing technology feasibility programs in support of the various Polaris GBU’s, as well as whitespace projects in new spaces. As an Electrical Engineer on this small go-fast team, you will wear a lot of hats – most critically, you will be responsible for electrical system design and implementation on technology demonstrating proof of concepts, assessment of technology feasibility, and investigation of external technology applications and partners.
Job Description
- Define technical requirements and execute system/component designs for technology proof of concepts
- Support the fabrication, development, test, and handoff phases of technology proof of concepts
- Interface with product management and product specific engineering staff to align on technology interest and commercialization recommendations
- Interface with external partners to align on project technical charters and provide electrical system support on externally developed proof of concepts
- Host technology feasibility and proof of concept reviews
- Provide technology development roadmap recommendations
- Summarize technology GAP analysis against feasible product/feature/functions
- Create and maintain technical feasibility summaries and technology proof of concept lessons learned
- Attend industry technology shows for scanning of enabling technologies and provide application feasibility assessment against developing technologies
Education, Skills And Knowledge Requirement
- B.S. or higher in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering (with Electro-Mechanical emphasis)
- Track record of pushing the boundaries of technology and proven capability of tying technology to application benefits
- Experience in defining requirements, executing design, and rapid implementation of embedded electrical systems
- Experience with communication networks, CAN and J1939 strongly preferred
- Basic software programming skills and experience in model-based programming (Simulink)
- Effective in technical problem solving and troubleshooting, specifically in electrical systems
- Experience creating electrical schematic layouts/designs
- Track record of supporting multiple projects concurrently
- Experience in presenting technical content to non-technical audience
Desirable Skills
- Experience with mechanical design
- Experience in project management
- Human-machine interface and display experience
- Track record of internal/external technical partners and supplier engagement
Working Condition
- Some travel required <15% for external partner interface, field testing trips, industry shows, etc.
