Wieland is hiring for an Electrical Engineer in Wheeling, IL. This position will serve to independently and collaboratively troubleshoot industrial electromechanical systems and machinery, operating within the maintenance department. Furthermore, this position is a process owner for preventative maintenance and improvement initiatives to increase the overall equipment effectiveness.

Electrical Engineer Responsibilities
- Independently step through and deploy short- and long-term solutions to minimize machine downtime, identifying potential root causes using a systematic, logic-based approach as well as developing and implementing root cause mitigation and countermeasure options.
- Collaborate with maintenance technicians to determine if machine issues are electrical or mechanical. Assist with mechanical work as necessary. Replace or repair damaged electrical components (e.g., contactors, breakers, fuses, drives) as necessary. Use programming device (PC) an PLC software for troubleshooting on equipment.
- Secure quotes from contractors for certain services and coordinate with production to schedule their completion if necessary
- Backup and maintain a library of memory, programs, and parameters for devices such as PLCs, programming devices, computers, and drives.
- Responsible for creating, updating, and maintaining work instructions and support documentation and training documents
Electrical Engineer Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in Mechatronics or Electrical Engineering – required
- 2+ years professional experience in the field of mechatronics- or electrical engineering – preferred
- Moderate mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic knowledge is required, along with experience using hand tools – required
- Ability to read and interpret electrical-, hydraulic-,, pneumatic-, and mechanical schematics and drawings – required
- Experience in project management is an added plus
- Advanced English language skills, both speaking and writing – required
- Ability to read and speak German at a mid to high level is a plus
- Previous experience in heavy metal or similar type of manufacturing is beneficial
- Good computer and data entry skills – required
- Basic knowledge in SAP modules PM and MM is an added plus
- Experience with PLC’s is required – related experience with Siemens PLCs and drives is a plus
- Proficiency in performing PC builds is a plus
