General Scope: Plans layout and installation of electrical wiring, equipment and fixtures, based on job specifications and local codes.
Position Summary:
- Assemble and install; electrical or electronic wiring, and equipment/ appliances/ apparatus’/ fixtures, using hand and power tools.
- Connect wires to circuit breakers, transformers, or other components.
- Plan layout and installation of electrical wiring, equipment and fixtures, based on job specifications.
- Prepares sketches showing location of wiring and equipment, or follows diagrams or blueprints, ensuring that concealed wiring is installed before completion of future walls, ceilings, and flooring.
- Measure, cut, bend, and install electrical conduit. Locate conduit (tubing & trays) throughout framework and inside designated walls, or other concealed areas, and pull wires or cables through the conduit to complete circuits between boxes.
- Connects wiring to lighting fixtures and powered equipment.
- Installs control and distribution apparatus such as switches, relays, and circuit-breaker panels.
- Connects power cables to equipment, motor etc., and installs grounding leads.
- Tests continuity of circuit to ensure electrical compatibility and safety of components with testing instruments such as ohmmeter, battery and buzzer, and oscilloscope.
- Dresses all wiring in panels and boxes, all components, and all cable runs
- Performs repairs to faulty equipment or systems.
- Must be fully vaccinated for the Coronavirus by December 8, 2021.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
This job has no supervisory responsibilities, but does assist in directing the Electrician Helper with the performance of their duties.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Education:
High School diploma (or equivalent), two-year College degree (or technical school certificate); or a minimum of two years of related experience and/or training.
Knowledge: Incumbent must have proficient knowledge in the following areas:
- Basic Electricity and Electronics.
- The use of electronic test equipment.
Skills: Incumbent must demonstrate or participate in internal/external training programs to obtain the following skills:
· Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
· Ability to read, and interpret, electrical schematic drawings, and engineering blueprints.
· Ability to add and subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
· Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
· Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
· Capable of working in a team environment.
· Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
· Capable of working in a team environment.
