About Edufinance

Opportunity EduFinance is a nimble, fast-moving, and rapidly expanding core function of Opportunity International’s global footprint. EduFinance aims to get more children into better quality schools. It does this by increasing access to capital for affordable private schools and parents, and by boosting the capacity of school leaders and teachers in low- and middle-income countries (LMIC). It does this in over 31 countries and is growing rapidly.

About the role

Opportunity International is seeking a Director, Program Implementation, who will be responsible for the delivery and oversight of the EduQuality program strategy to support leaders, teachers/caregives, students, and parents across the Opportunity EduFinance global footprint.

Responsibilities

Program Global Oversight

  • Lead global strategic oversight of the EduQuality program professional development training for school leaders and teacher mentors of low-cost private schools globally.
  • Manage global, regional, and country-level Education Specialist teams, including recruitment onboarding, ongoing coaching, training, and professional development.
  • Implement tracking measures in collaboration with the global Data & Business Intelligence team to ensure effective use of data in performance management through the development and managment of quality assurance and feedback loops.
  • Created operation framework with the Director, EduFinance Financial Products to ensure that EduQuality activities are well-coordinated in each country.
  • Establish and manage the program budget by ensuring cost-effective decision-making.

Partnership Development and Management

  • Created a strategic EduQuality program plan within established program partner markets to deliver key technical services, including school proprietor training, school-level assessments, teacher service provision, and material provision programs.

Business Planning

  • Implement the EduQuality vision globally by creating, tracking, managing relationships with key stakeholders, and ensuring key deliverables meet the established multi-year operating plan.
  • Oversee the global and local EduQuality implementation budget to ensure the program maximizes social impact and achieves donor commitments with available financing.

Donor Engagement & Reporting

  • Represent the EduFinance and the EduQuality programs to donors in meetings and in person, as required.
  • Maintain and nurture stakeholder relationships by co-creating engagements with Opportunity International Support Members and donors.
  • Complete narrative and statistical reports as necessary to meet donor requirements.
  • Leverage donor relationships to engage ongoing support for the EduQuality program.

Supervisory Responsibility

Direct reports to include:

  • Head Education Specialist, Africa
  • Head Education Specialist, LAC
  • Head Education Specialist, Asia
  • Supervision of the EduQuality Education Specialists teams. This includes over 50 internal staff, consultants, and external partners.

Qualifications

  • Degree in a field related to education, or a degree in an international development-related field with significant experience in the education field.
  • Significant experience working in education systems in low-and-middle income countries, ideally spanning Sub Saharan Africa, Asia and Latin America.
  • Significant experience using a data driven approach to managing large field teams across countries, ideally across regions and time zones.
  • An understanding of and a commitment to advancing the mission and core values of Opportunity International.

Language Skills

  • Written and verbal fluency in English required.
  • Fluency in French and/or Spanish desirable.

Travel Requirements

  • Up to 50% required annually (Domestic and International)
  • Able to travel with minimal notice and maximum flexibility.
  • Willing to travel independently and without escort or planning support to both developing and developed nation context

APPOINTMENT TERMS

Location: UK, Ghana, Kenya, Nigeria, Uganda

Salary and Benefits: Local salary package, subject to location. Candidates must have the right to work in one of the specified locations.
