The purpose of this position is to implement delegated areas of responsibility for education and youth support and administration work in the Northeast Syria area office in Amman, Jordan. Education support Technical Assistant will implement within NRC policy, procedures, and tools with a focus and primary responsibility on programme administrative work in areas of human resources, procurement, and administrative functions. They will also be responsible for preparing reports and supporting the implementation and office workload for the department in the field office and the Area Office in Amman..

Generic responsibilities:

  • Adhere to NRC policies, tools, handbooks and guidelines.
  • Assist a range of support with the implementation of the WASH portfolio according to the plan of action.
  • Implements independent procedures and activities within own function or core competency as delegated.
  • Responsible for organising and delivery of tasks in line with priorities and standards.
  • Develop and maintain knowledge of the specialist area of work in which technical assistance and support are being provided in order to be most effective in supporting the team.
  • Use initiative in day-to-day problem-solving in line with agreed procedures, priorities and standards for the work area.
  • Prepare and develop status reports as required by management.
  • Ensure proper filing of documents.
  • Promote and share ideas for improvement in your area of expertise.

Specific responsibilities:

  • Organize and execute daily administrative tasks for smooth programme operations.
  • Support the Project Coordinator (PC) in administrative activities with Human resources (HR), logistics, procurement, and fleet to support teams in the field.
  • Follow up on all logistic and procurement transactions, bid analysis, implementation, and delivery of the services.
  • Maintain inventory records and tracking for education and youth programme assets and inventory.
  • Responsible for initiating the procurement process as per the instruction of the line manager by raising the PR and follow-up until the delivery and documents closed.
  • Archive and organise files systematically to easily access all programme procurement transactions.
  • Proper support to the recruitment and monthly follow-up to facilitators’ contracts and needed actions on contracts updating in the field.
  • Prepare with the field officers the community-based workers’ monthly payment and share it with the PC.
  • Regularly update department staff database and ensure information related to staff is collected properly on time and matching HR files in the Area Office, including track and records of Edu NES staff’s leave.
  • Responsible for maintaining a collaborative working environment with other team members, both within the project team, within other Core Competencies and with the Support Team.
  • Responsible for supporting safe programming in all Edu or related activities throughout the project cycle. This includes – but not limited to – Actively considering SIP elements (Safety, dignity, DNH, meaningful access, accountability, and participation) in the daily activity. Implement SIP-relevant activities as included in the Country Office Action Plan for your area of work.
  • Any other activity assigned by the supervisor.

Context related skills, knowledge and experience:

  • At least 2 years’ previous work experience with satisfactory performance in the same or similar function preferably with humanitarian INGOs.
  • A university degree in Business, Administration, Management, or a relevant field is desirable.
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
  • Sound Knowledge of the humanitarian context in NES is a plus
