What we are looking for

Education technical expertise within a humanitarian/ recovery context. Experience with education programme development and advocacy work and good knowledge of the context in Jordan. Proven experience in learning, quality management and co-ordination mechanisms.

What you will do

The purpose of the Education Specialist position is technical development of the education Core Competency (CC), strategic direction and quality assurance, the education strategy and quality control. The Education Specialist is responsible for mentoring, training, and capacity development of staff on education technical capacity.

In this position you will:

  • Develop education strategy and offer technical guidance and project implementation support.
  • Contribute to fundraising, developing and revising funding proposals, budgets and donor reports.
  • Ensure compliance with and adherence to NRC policies, guidance and procedures and follow up on compliance with contractual commitments within CC, ensure high technical quality and synergies in project implementation.
  • Ensure that key learnings are extracted from education CC implementation, and incorporate them in education CC and staff development processes.
  • Ensure sustainability of education programming, including handing over programmes to local actors, for example the Ministry of Education, Syrian staff, and/or other relevant national/regional partners and act as Focal Point for education programme government approvals.
  • Contribute to the development of NRC national and regional returns preparedness programming and integrated programming.
  • Provide systematic training and build the capacities of staff
  • Provide oversight and technical support for M&E data collection and analysis for education programme, ensuring planning and analysis of long terms outcomes.
  • Provide oversight and technical support for NRC’s Safe and Inclusive (SIS) programme, ensuring alignment of camps and host community programming, and effective outcome/impact monitoring and measurement.
  • Represent NRC in relevant forums/clusters, including with national authorities and donors
  • Promote the rights of IDPs/returnees in line with the advocacy strategy. Advocate for adolescents in education and youth sectors, drawing on internal data and conducting research when needed.

What you will bring

Minimum 4 years of experience within Education technical expertise area in a humanitarian/ recovery context.

Specific experience, knowledge and expertise in:

  • education programme development and advocacy work
  • developing and delivering high quality tools to support practical implementation of programmes.
  • communication and ability to build trust and confidently navigate both internally and externally at different levels.
  • strategic development and thinking
  • Knowledge of working with NRC’s programmes and systems is an advantage.

Understanding of and commitment to:

  • organisational learning and quality management.
  • working collaboratively with technical and operational colleagues within a matrix structure, including capacity strengthening.
  • Bachelors degree in related field (desirable).
  • Fluency in English, both written and verbal and proficiency in Arabic language is desired and an added advantage
