Description of the profile:

DRS (DevelopmentAid Recruitment Solutions) is looking for a Project Manager for our client to manage the delivery of education reform projects, manage resources and ensure that deliverables are completed to quality, cost, and time standards as specified in the contract, aiming to ensure customer satisfaction throughout the project lifecycle.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Project Planning:

  • Develop comprehensive project plans for our education projects in Kenya, outlining tasks, timelines, and resource requirements.
  • Tailor plans to address specific challenges and opportunities within the Kenyan education landscape.

Execution and Monitoring:

  • Lead a diverse team to execute plans effectively, ensuring the timely and successful delivery of education projects in Kenya.
  • Monitor project progress, adjusting strategies as needed to align with local needs and educational goals.

Resource Management:

  • Collaborate with local stakeholders to allocate resources efficiently for the success of education initiatives in Kenya.
  • Implement strategies to optimize resource utilization and enhance project impact.

Donor and Stakeholder Interaction:

  • Engage with donors and funding organizations, providing regular updates on project progress and ensuring alignment with their expectations.
  • Cultivate strong relationships with local communities, educational institutions, and government bodies, fostering collaboration and support.

Risk Management:

  • Identify and address challenges unique to the Kenyan education system, implementing mitigation strategies to ensure project success.
  • Act swiftly to troubleshoot issues and maintain project momentum.

Stakeholder Communication:

  • Act as the primary liaison for project-related communications, facilitating productive interactions with donors and stakeholders.
  • Provide regular updates to stakeholders on project progress, ensuring transparency and alignment with local educational objectives.

Quality Assurance:

  • Establish and maintain project documentation and standards tailored to the Kenyan education sector.
  • Conduct rigorous quality checks to uphold project standards and implement continuous improvement processes.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Development Studies, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in project management, with a successful track record.
  • Experience in coordinating the full cycle of project management, from initiation to closure.
  • Proven experience in budget management for development projects, ensuring efficient resource allocation.
  • Previous experience in donor and stakeholder engagement, demonstrating effective communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Exceptional organizational and leadership skills.
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Proficiency in relevant project management software and tools.
  • PMP or relevant certifications are a plus.
  • Fluency in English.
