The Education Monitor is responsible for to supervision of the quality, access and impact of non-formal and formal education services provided and activities implemented in the area of intervention. Specifically he/she is responsible for monitoring attendance, retention and risks faced by beneficiary children. He/she is responsible for ensuring the impact and application of the training through in class observation and constant support to school personnel. He/she is finally responsible for ensuring the link and referral between formal and non-formal education.

 

  • Monitor and collect data on children’s enrollment and attendance in the formal schools and temporary learning spaces (TLSs) through monthly in person follow-up, constant relations with Principals and teachers/ education facilitators;
  • Act as Education Information Helpline for parents and students in particular during enrolment process to support the relations schools – home;
  • Identify children at risk of drop out, propose strategies to support them ensuring retention;
  • Monitor students’ performance during mid-term and final exams in all the formal schools and/or TLSs and provide a clear analysis including the percentage of variation with last years;
  • Coordinating with Education outreach workers in and out of camp to monitor the Education activities, attendance sheet of children enrolled in catch-up and remedial classes;
  • Constantly monitor (every three months) improvements and challenges faced by children enrolled in catch up and remedial classes along with teachers performance;
  • Develop and maintain a digital archiving system of all data and information related to the monitoring process through a database;
  • Analyze the data collected, elaborating monthly reports on the findings and trends in cooperation with INTERSOS Meal Department;
  • Monitor the impact of training delivered to teachers through in class observation and constant on job support;
  • Facilitate the communication and referral process between the formal and non-formal education, through referral of needs of enrolled students and out of school children;
  • Monitor the areas of intervention and coordinate with Education Outreach workers in the identification, referral and definition of individual strategies to support out of school children re enrollment and capacity development;
  • Follow-up the implementation of Child-friendly feedback mechanism as requested by the project;
  • Follow-up the transportation service progress and any other service provided to beneficiaries through standard tools;

    Participate actively in the school assessment contributing in collection of data on access, gaps and barriers of the education system (formal and non-formal);

    Take part/ conduct assessments in the same and/or different areas from the project’s implementation site when required;

    Provide recommendations and input for tailoring the activities according to needs;

    Participate in trainings and workshops on education related topics and other capacity building activities according to the project needs and requests from the Education Officer and Education Manager/ Education Project Manager;

    Ensure adherence to INTERSOS and donor’s administrative rules and regulations;

    Ensure adherence to INTERSOS administrative rules and regulations;

    Perform any other task not here listed and necessary for the implementation of the project activities or the mission program as requested by the Education Officer.

 Qualifications:

Skills/Competences:

Essential

Previous experience in similar position with INGOs (1 year);

University degree in Humanities and/or similar;

Adherence to humanitarian principles and code of conduct, in line with INTERSOS’ principles, values and regulations;

Fluency in Arabic;

Good IT knowledge and skills;

Ability and willingness to travel across the assigned project areas (XXXXXXXat short notice and spend extended periods with communities;

Ability in analyzing data and issue timely reports;

Knowledge of Child Safeguarding policy and PSEA;

Desirable

Knowledge of Turkmen/ Kurdish is highly valued;

Good Knowledge of English is highly valued;

Strong diplomatic, interpersonal, listening and communication skills;

Ability to work in a multicultural context as a flexible and respectful team;

Flexibility and ability to cope with stressful situations;

Previous working experience with camp and out of camp settings with IDPs, returnees, refugees and host- communities.
