The Education Field Officer assumes a role in dealing with a variety of groups and individuals in the school settings, the learning community centers, and the community at large. S/he supports school teachers, teacher assistants, and vendors, coordinates the resources, collects and records data, reports from different source points, and acts as their point of communication. He/she enables the implementation of the project and exerts efforts outreaching all concerned beneficiaries and ensure a safe and enabling learning environment, engages parents, and improves teachers’ and students’ performance.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Uphold the integrity and the values of the Ana Aqra Association through words and actions; and foster the development of diverse concepts and new ideas.

On the operation level,

  • Facilitate and communicate with teachers and school administrators the procedures of the program components to provide an enabling teaching environment that hosts a community of learners.
  • Conduct the needed outreach (learners/ stakeholders) including contacting the schools, centers/center owners, and support the procurement in their vendor identification.
  • Document all data on Ana Aqra’s CRM or any other identified system to populate the project database.
  • Implement the work plan and follow up on the specified indicators closely with the line manager
  • Record and update data on learners’ attendance, stakeholders’ attendance, and dropout numbers.
  • Support in the collection of contracts, attendance sheets, and other requested documents.
  • Ensure having proper signatures and info needed on attendance sheets.
  • Extract reports to verify data recording against attendance sheets.
  • Issue the needed purchase request and follow up on this task with their line manager.
  • Receive and document goods reception and ensure submitting needed papers to the procurement department.
  • Respond to requests shared by the line manager in a timely manner.
  • Facilitate the parents’ meetings and encourage parents’ participation.

On the teaching quality level,

  • Ensure instructional effectiveness and use of best teaching practices in line with the QTL approach
  • Monitor student progress using assessment and evaluation tools and by observing, documenting, and submitting reports.
  • Conduct walks through classes to evaluate and advise on the classroom environment and teaching practices.
  • Conduct teacher coaching visits and document the visit outcomes against the teacher observation tool.
  • Record the teacher performance and analyze the data recorded to design an intervention plan based on needs.

On the development level,

  • Participate in all required professional development/training in order to acquire the knowledge, skills, and instructional strategies necessary to effectively impact the instructional practices.
  • Cascade the learning to the team members to build their capacities and enhance the quality of the teaching approach.
  • Identify barriers and challenges while providing evidence that will support mitigating the issues with the line manager.

On the reporting level,

  • Documenting all filed activities in writing to be submitted regularly to the line Manager.
  • Document the parents meeting and collect respective data if FGD is conducted.
  • Report to the line manager periodically using all project reporting templates.
  • Make use of the monitoring and evaluation templates to ensure proper implementation and progress against targets.

Qualifications, Knowledge, and Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, Development Studies preferable in Education or a relevant degree
  • Min 2-4 years of experience in Field Work with a focus on education
  • Fluency in spoken and written Arabic and a very good command of English
  • Excellent computer skills, Excel in particular
  • Knowledgeable of the community they live in and its geography
  • Good problem-solving skills
  • Understanding of and implementing work plans
  • Ability to prioritize and communicate clearly with all members of his/her team.
  • Knowledge of the current education challenges
  • Commitment to the child
  • Having a car and the ability to drive for longer distances.
