Job Purpose

This position is responsible for Education and Youth Projects implementation. The role will line manage the Project Coordinator and Officer, while coordinating the day- to-day implementation of Education projects, ensure capacity building of project staff and transfer key skills to the field teams while liaising and collaborating with relevant local authorities and other key stakeholders. The role will be based in Ramadi-Anbar governorate with frequent field visits to project sites areas.

What you will do

  • Contribute to the development of Country, Area and Educational strategies, initiate and participate in the development of relevant Education projects
  • Coordinate and manage Education and Youth project implementation (activities, budget development and management, project documentation) in line with proposals, strategies and donor requirements
  • Implement technical direction and ensure high technical quality of projects
  • Carry out high quality reporting, financial management and monitoring and evaluation of the projects.
  • Work closely with the Area Program Manager and Education Specialists in overseeing the delivery of Iraq Education and Youth Strategy while providing regular progress reports to them
  • Manage and support the start-up of NRC’s education and youth project in Anbar, including the planning and implementation of activities as well as management of youth teams and community facilitators.
  • Support fundraising activities including preparation of concepts and project proposals.
  • Line manage staff and ensure capacity building of the team and transfer of key skills
  • Liaise and collaborate with relevant local authorities and other key stakeholders as well as representation in internal and external forums on behalf of NRC Iraq Anbar Education and youth projects.
  • Promote the rights of Internally Displaced Persons ( IDPs)/returnees in line with the advocacy strategy – develop advocacy, communication tools and messages on education.
  • Ensure adherence to NRC policies, guidance and procedures

Professional Competencies, Skills and Qualifications required;

  • Bachelor’s degree qualification with minimum 3 years experience working as Education Project Manager within humanitarian/recovery context
  • Experience in Project Management/implementation and budget monitoring
  • Experience working in complex and volatile/emergency contexts
  • Technical Education expertise
  • Fluency in English, both written and verbal, fluency in Arabic is an added advantage
  • Knowledge of the context in Middle East specifically Iraq Crisis
  • Ability to work independently.

Additional Information:

Duty Station: Ramadi – Anbar

Duration of contract: 10 months, full-time, in accordance with local labour laws.

Grade 8 in NRC’s grading structure

Travel: 40% (travel between Qaim, Anna, Al Fallujah)

Reporting line: Area Programme Manager
