Role and responsibilities

Generic responsibilities

  • Ensure adherence with NRC policies, tools, handbooks and guidelines
  • Implement delegated CC project portfolio according to plan of action
  • Prepare and develop status reports as required by management
  • Ensure proper filing of documents
  • Ensure that projects target beneficiaries most in need, and explore and asses new and better ways to assist
  • Promote and share ideas for technical improvement

Specific responsibilities

  • Implement education & youth activities under direction of the Education &Youth Project Coordinator.
  • Provide technical support and feedback to education & youth Assistants in line with program objectives.
  • Develop and maintain effective filing systems, both electronic and paper.
  • Update and maintain effective project work plans.
  • Provide support to NRC activities, formal schools, and incentive staff in line with NRC quality standards.
  • Document technical issues and challenges, and channel to the Education &Youth PC.
  • Ensure accurate and ongoing monitoring, tracking, and reporting of Education & youth projects activities, budgets & targets. 
  • Conduct regular field visits (minimum 3 day a week) to support education& youth activities / PSS and recreation and closely follow up on project implementation.
  • Oversee distributions of teaching and learning materials, youth start up kits, etc.
  • Monitoring and updating overall project work plan, weekly report and staff work plan.
  • Contribute to formal report writing.
  • Ensure proper and regular communication with provide updates to relevant local authorities such as directorate of education, directorate of youth camp managers, etc.
  • Any other task relevant to the position as requested by line manager.

Qualifications & Preferred Skills

Competencies

Generic professional competencies:

  • Experience from working as a Project Officer in a humanitarian/recovery context
  • Previous experience from working in complex and volatile contexts
  • Documented results related to the position’s responsibilities
  • Some knowledge of English

Specific skills, knowledge and experience:

  • Minimum 1 year experience in NGO education programming.
  • Candidates with a university and/or advanced degree preferred; significant experience in the field of education, PSS or child protection considered in.
  • Ability to work diligently both independently and in a team setting.
  • Proven ability to multi-task and meet deadlines.
  • Understanding of the circumstances, needs, and challenges IDP/refugee children & youth face.
  • Understanding of the role of education and vocational training in meeting the needs of IDP/refugee populations.
  • Understanding of SPHERE and/or INEE minimum standards.
  • Knowledge of the basics of child protection and/or psychosocial support.
  • And Experience in delivering vocational training for youth and working with children and/or educators; DoE-level experience a plus
  • Solid computer skills, including MS Word, Outlook, and Excel.

Other Information:

Contract Duration: 11 months 
Duty Station: Nineveh- Iraq 
Health Insurance is provided
Salary: G5/S1, According to NRC’s Iraq salary scale and terms and conditions.
