UNICEF’s Public Partnerships Division (PPD) is responsible for managing the organization’s relations with public sector partners. The UNICEF Seoul Liaison Office, which reports into PPD, is responsible for maintaining and strengthening the partnership between UNICEF and the Government of the Republic of Korea.

Purpose of the consultancy

The UNICEF Seoul Liaison Office requires an Editing Consultant to support the deepening of UNICEF’s collaboration with the Government of the Republic of Korea. The consultancy will focus on reviewing a range of products, including newsletters, web content, human interest stories, social media posts, briefing notes, strategic documents, proposals and reports, and other related materials.

Description Of Assignment (Deliverables)

Deliverable 1: Newsletters

The Editing Consultant will review and edit several newsletters throughout the course of the consultancy.

Deliverables:

  • Quarterly partnership newsletters (1/2 day per issue; 3 issues)
  • Quarterly DPRK newsletters (1/2 day per issue; 3 issues)

Timeline: Total 3 days

Deliverable 2: Web content

The Editing Consultant will review and edit web content throughout the course of the consultancy.

Deliverables:

  • Monthly human interest stories and associated articles (1/2 day per month)

Timeline: Total 4.5 days

Deliverable 3: Social media posts

The Editing Consultant will review social media posts on a weekly basis.

Deliverables:

  • Weekly social media posts (1/2 day per month)

Timeline: Total 4.5 days

Deliverable 4: Briefing notes

The Editing Consultant will edit briefing notes as required.

Deliverables:

  • Three briefing notes expected per month (1 day per month)

Timeline: Total 9 days

Deliverable 5: Strategic documents

The Editing Consultant will review strategic documents, including proposals and reports, as required.

Deliverables:

  • One strategic document per month (1 day per month)

Timeline: Total 9 days

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in any of the following: Marketing, Communications, Business Administration, Economics, Social Sciences, Public Administration, International Relations, or equivalent

Work Experience:

  • Minimum of five years of relevant professional experience, including communication project management in the private or non-profit sectors

Individuals engaged under a consultancy or individual contract will not be considered “staff members” under the Staff Regulations and Rules of the United Nations and UNICEF’s policies and procedures, and will not be entitled to benefits provided therein (such as leave entitlements and medical insurance coverage). Their conditions of service will be governed by their contract and the General Conditions of Contracts for the Services of Consultants and Individual Contractors. Consultants and individual contractors are responsible for determining their tax liabilities and for the payment of any taxes and/or duties, in accordance with local or other applicable laws.

The selected candidate is solely responsible to ensure that the visa (applicable) and health insurance required to perform the duties of the contract are valid for the entire period of the contract. Selected candidates are subject to confirmation of fully-vaccinated status against SARS-CoV-2 (Covid-19) with a World Health Organization (WHO)-endorsed vaccine, which must be met prior to taking up the assignment. It does not apply to consultants who will work remotely and are not expected to work on or visit UNICEF premises, programme delivery locations or directly interact with communities UNICEF works with, nor to travel to perform functions for UNICEF for the duration of their consultancy contracts.
