It consists of the two locations South (Wesseling) and North (Godorf) and has started a major transformation program.

What’s the role?

An Economist for our integrated energy and chemicals park with both a refinery but also chemicals units and more and more new sustainable products. We have just announced our large transformation plans and have several projects already in operation.

This position reports to the E&S manager and is part of the Economics and Scheduling (E&S) team that works at the interface with Trading, Marketing and the Production unit managers to unlock E2E value. This team sits under the Business Manager NorthWestEurope organization.

The economics team is diverse and interacts daily with many international teams and the role provides you the opportunities to start in one area based on your specific experience and then expand into much broader scopes. This is the place where you will learn to understand how commercial value is generated every day.

The Economist will be responsible for maximizing the E2E margin and to relentlessly drive the organization to deliver optimized plans to generate maximum cash. Furthermore, your responsibilities will include:

  • Day-to-day optimization of the margin as part of the wider supply chain, including integration with the Margin Optimisation Team in London and Products Trading desks to maximise optionality and protect value.
  • Delivery of the monthly/daily unit handshake & operations appraisal in close co-operation with the scheduling team
  • The economist works with the technologists and Economic Model coordinator to ensure accurate and up to date basic data and constraints of all key process units are captured and reflected in economic models used.
  • Supports and has a key role in the monthly planning processes representing the site towards the Trading and Supply and Chemicals commercial teams
  • To develop and implement new margin generating options working closely with our partners in Chemicals and Products, Trading and Projects &Technology.
  • Provide economic support for projects, investment proposals and margin tactics.
  • Support the Gross Refinery and Chemicals margin planning for the yearly Business Plan.
  • Support global Margin initiatives.

Requirements

What we need from you?

  • Graduate of any business or technical degree.
  • With a relevant working experience. With a mix of technical and commercial knowledge
  • Learner mindset, open mindedness, a highly motivated and a determinate person
  • Expected to be able to work independently and deliver tangible results within a short time-frame.
  • Fluent in English.
