POSITION SUMMARY:

HIAS seeks an Economic Inclusion & CVA Coordinator, LAC to provide technical support in the design, implementation and monitoring of programs that ensure forcibly displaced people can secure income and enjoy rights to work, self-reliance and a decent standard of living.

Reporting to the Technical Advisor, Economic Inclusion & CVA, LAC, and working closely with country teams, they will support the efforts to build the capacity of HIAS staff and partners in the region. As such, they will overall support the exchange of best practices, support to country operations in the accurate execution of economic inclusion programming, engagement with key stakeholders and joint work with other departments at HIAS.

Note, this position is based at our headquarters in Silver Spring, Maryland or our office in New York, New York, and we will consider a remote option for applicants who live outside of commuting distance to either of our offices and are based in other states in which we are registered (Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Iowa, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Nevada, New Jersey, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Texas, Virginia, West Virginia, Wisconsin). This position can also be based in the LAC region in countries where HIAS has existing operations (Panama, Costa Rica, Mexico, Colombia, Venezuela, Ecuador, Peru, Aruba, Guyana).

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Supports the implementation of annual workplans developed by the Technical Advisor, Economic Inclusion & CVA, LAC in agreement with country offices in the region.
  • Supports the creation of integrated strategies and program design of economic recovery and inclusion and CVA interventions.
  • Supports the development of plans, SOPs and appropriate tools for implementation and monitoring of Economic Inclusion and CVA programming.
  • Supports the engagement with corporate partners in LAC to develop corporate social responsibility and shared value projects that promote the economic inclusion of refugees and migrants.
  • Contributes to the development of concept notes and proposals as needed.
  • Supports the exchange, documentation and dissemination of best practices and lessons learned with internal stakeholders.
  • Helps identify training needs among the Economic Inclusion and CVA staff and supports the development and implementation of yearly training plans.
  • Supports the coordination of market assessments, feasibility studies and other assessments required for the implementation of Economic Inclusion and CVA programming in the region, in coordination with the Economic Inclusion Research Manager.
  • Brings a protection and innovation lens to Economic Inclusion programming.
  • Ensures that all project documents, tools and technical resources are available, accurate, updated and archived in soft and hard copy according to HIAS procedures.
  • Other duties and responsibilities assigned by the supervisor in line with the job description and plan of action.

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:

  • Undergraduate degree in relevant field (Economics, Business Administration, International Business, Development) required; related graduate degree will be an asset.
  • 2-3 years of relevant work experience required, with at least two focused on the design, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of CVA and Economic Inclusion for vulnerable populations, including refugees and forcibly displaced populations in areas of cash-based interventions, poverty alleviation, income generation, group savings and loans, vocational skills training, seed funding, employer outreach and engagement.
  • At least 2 years of field-based experience in Latin America and the Caribbean.
  • Fluency in English and Spanish required.
  • Experience writing proposals for donor-funded programs and grants.
  • Experience engaging with corporate partners to develop corporate social responsibility and shared value projects.
  • Collaborative, flexible team player with the ability to think creatively, logically and critically.
  • Excellent technical and communication skills.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented.
  • Ability to travel up to 30% of the time.
