Responsibilities

Our client is a leading player in the Oil & Gas industry, specialising in bulk fuel storage. They are seeking a skilled EC&I Technician to join their team. Based in Gosport or Thanckes.As an EC&I Technician, you will be responsible for ensuring the efficient operation and maintenance of electrical, control, and instrumentation systems within our client’s facility, including LV electrical distribution systems, motors, drives, switch gears, and fire alarms. You will play a crucial role in maintaining the safety, reliability, and productivity of the operations.Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Provide technical support for day-to-day operations of oil fuel depots.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve electrical control and instrumentation problems.
  • Inspect and maintain instrumented systems to ensure compliance with relevant standards.
  • Work in accordance with current legislation and statutory requirements, including DSEAR, EAWR, HASAWA, BSEN61508/11, IEC13849, and BS 62061.
  • Complete all assigned tasks safely, to the required quality and timeframes.
  • Carry out planned maintenance activities and defect rectification efficiently.
  • Read and produce engineering drawings, P&IDs, and trip schedules.
  • Utilise diagnostic techniques to identify faults in depot systems and components.
  • Reinstate the work area after completing maintenance.
  • Conduct safe and effective handover of depot systems and equipment.
  • Overhaul and replace parts according to schedule.
  • Specify and order assigned spares/replacement equipment in line with site quality procedures.
  • Train and mentor others in maintenance or operations, including apprentices.
  • Be willing to undertake further training and formal qualifications as and when required by the business.

Required Experience And Skills

  • Qualified in a relevant Engineering Craft/ Technician discipline and completed a Modern-Day Craft Apprenticeship or be assessed as competent with relevant experience.
  • Previous experience of DCS systems, communication data highways, variable speed drives, and instrumentation (pressure, flow, temperature, density, level, control valves, etc.)
  • Ability to read and produce engineering drawings, P&IDs, and trip schedules.
  • Ability to utilize diagnostic techniques to identify faults in depot systems and components.
  • Ability to work safely and independently in a hazardous environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
