Feed the Children

Job Summary

To undertake all driving and vehicle maintenance responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor. The Driver is responsible for driving Field staff to various places within and outside their districts; ensure the safety, technical soundness and comfort of the vehicle(s) assigned to them.

Reports Directly To: Procurement and Logistic Manager

Principal Responsibilities

· To be an active team member in the Drivers & Mechanics Team

· To perform daily vehicle checks to record serviceability, oil level, coolant level, battery ionized water levels, brake/clutch fluid levels, wiper-blade fluids, etc and inform TO.

· To fuel and keep in good running order the vehicle assigned.

· Monitor fuel consumption and report to the Transport officer any abnormalities.

· To make written reports of any accidents/incidents when they occur.

· To record vehicle mileage before and after every trip and ensure the mileage sheet tarries with the odometer reading.

· Follow strictly the transport schedule and vehicle routing as issued by the line manager and refer all other requests for changes to the Transport officer.

· To ensure that the vehicle assigned is properly serviced and maintained at all times.

· To advice the Transport Officer of expiring licenses well in advance.

· Ensure conversance with existing and emerging traffic and local authority laws.

· To make sure that the vehicle assigned is kept safe, tidy, and clean at all times.

· To observe the requirements of the Standard Operating Procedures for the transport section as given by the line manager.

· To be flexible enough to assume other driving duties when other drivers are absent for some reason.

· To adhere to all FEED policies and procedures of operation.

· Any other duties assigned by the supervisor

Job Level Specifications

· Basic knowledge of motor vehicle mechanics

· Basic training/knowledge of First Aid

· Certificate of Good Conduct

· Passionate about children and people with disability and knowledge of child protection policy.

· Excellent organizer with good skills in computers for making reports and schedules.

· Self-motivated individual who enjoys driving.

· A team-player with a good sense of communication.

Experience

o At least three years of work experience as a driver.

o National of Malawi.

Education/Certifications

o Successful completion of Secondary School Education

o Fluent in English
