Overview of position

Under the overall supervision of the Logistics Officer and the direct supervision of the National Fleet Officer in Chuuk, the Federated States of Micronesia, the successful candidate will be responsible and accountable for providing driving and general support to the programs.

Role objectives

  • Drive assigned our client office vehicle(s) and ensure that our client’s vehicle policy is always observed.

  • Coordinate with the fleet focal person on the day-to-day maintenance of our client fleet of vehicles to ensure roadworthiness. Maintain and update vehicle maintenance record. Ensure that vehicles undertake regular service intervals. Arrange for minor repairs and ensure that the vehicles are kept clean.

  • Make sure that the daily log sheet is prepared, and a monthly report is submitted summarizing statistics for mileage, fuel consumption and usage (official or personal), etc.

  • Maintain electronic and printed files for each service vehicles (e.g. purchase invoice, registration, insurance, etc.) and monitors the validity of registration and insurance cards.

  • Keep a high degree of confidentiality and discreteness in discussions, which involves our client and its officials. Take proper actions to reduce potential security threats to our client officials and/or property within the immediate vicinity of the vehicle and along transport routes.

  • Assists in running errands like paying bills, delivering and collecting mails, pouches, and other communication items from and to the office, go to the post office, airport, government agencies, other UN agencies, project sites etc.; keep records as required.

  • Ensure that our client vehicle(s) is used only for official/authorized business, as advised by the supervisor.

  • Meet official personnel at the airport.

  • When needed, assist the sub-office staff in performing simple clerical duties such as making and answering telephone calls, making photocopies, keeping records, etc.

  • Strictly adhere to our client’s policies and procedures including prevention of sexual exploitation and abuse and promotion of a respectful work environment

  • Perform such other duties as may be assigned.

Key competencies

EDUCATION

  • High school degree/certificate with minimum three years of relevant working experience or Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution with one year driving experience.

  • Safe driving record

  • Valid national driver’s license

EXPERIENCE

  • Knowledge of driving rules and regulations.

  • Experience in driving a variety of makes and models of vehicles

  • Skills in minor vehicle repairs.

  • Knowledge of radio, email, telephone and other applications.

SKILLS

  • Excellent organizational and time management skills

  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills
