Drilling & Cost Control Engineer

WRS Kurdistan Team are looking for Local experienced candidates for the position of “Drilling and Cost Control Engineer” to work for an international Oil company in Erbil.

As Drilling and Cost Control Engineer ,you will provide administrative, technical, and cost support to the drilling and operations team. In addition to operations monitoring and reporting you will also monitor, update, and use the Material Management System so the project may be executed in the most efficient manner possible. Initially the position will have a strong emphasis on implementing cost and inventory control systems.

Reports To

Drilling Technical Manager and Drilling Superintendent

Responsibilities

  • Provide administrative, technical, and cost support to drilling engineering and operations staff
  • Monitor and update accurate schedule progress based on daily activity reports
  • Assist in the preparation of schedule progress and cost reports
  • Populate company financial database with commercial conditions of the contracts
  • Electronically raise stock and non-stock requisitions for the purchase of goods and services
  • Prepare scope changes, maintain trends and variances that may affect project schedule
  • Confirm quantities received with Materials and Logistics and relevant documents
  • Accurately track and verify material consumption using company’s Material Management System
  • Support Cost Analysts in reviewing all drilling invoices including 3-way matching (PO/SO/Contract, rec’d item, invoice approval)
  • Work with Commercial Manager to resolve any pricing or quantity issues regarding drilling invoices and dealing with any invoices with partial payments
  • Work with the drilling department to keep them informed of any issues and to ensure all invoice information is correct.

Required Education and Experience

  • Minimum 5 years of work experience in drilling and completions activities
  • Previous exposure to basic cost control
  • B.Sc. in Engineering or Diploma in Engineering, Accounting, or equivalent
  • Software Skills Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Visio, Microsoft Project
  • Fluent in Kurdish & English, both oral and written, with good presentation and report writing skills

  • Ability to prioritize and plan workloads and meet competing deadlines in a dynamic, fast-paced environment of an international junior oil and gas company.
  • Demonstrated record of diligence and attention to detail working with very high standards both personally and technically.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and business needs with innovative solutions.
  • Self-motivated with a high level of enthusiasm and energy, coupled with a strong work ethic and genuine pride in work.

Work Environment

  • This position will be based in Erbil, Kurdistan Region of Iraq.
  • This position operates in a professional office environment.
