The incubent will work under the supervision of the NTD Coordinator in order to to support the planning, implementation and monitoring of CBM’s NTD portfolio in DRC.
1. Thumbnail Reviews project components, develops project resource profiles and timelines. Assesses delivery issues and works with national counterparts to build common understanding and coordination on project activities.
2. Main Tasks
The job holder will develop his/her technical knowledge in trachoma elimination and take a leading role on supporting the TT surgery programmes in DRC.
Programme Support and reporting
The incumbent will be responsible for/to:
- Ensuring the successful and timely completion of TT Surgery programmes in DRC as well as developing project proposals and budgets for the implementation of triachiasis case management activities, for fundraising;
- Develop project proposals and budgets for the implementation of activities in support of mass distribution of specific drugs for NTD as well as mass distributions of the drugs themselves to the PNLMTN (National program for fighting against NTD);
- Supporting the other NTD programmes as required – particularly the annual Mass Drug Administration programme;
- Prepare and make technical presentations of the achievements of TT programmes in DRC during meetings at the provincial and national levels as well as related workshops;
- Contribute to the development of operational plans, quarterly and annual technical and financial reports of the CBM NTD Coordination;
- Support partners in planning and writing of proposals and budgets;
- Monitoring/supervision of projects and activities in the field, troubleshooting where required;
- Overseeing accurate and timely reporting by partners and prepare documents for reporting to donors;
- Support the collection, review and analysis of programme data for submission to CBM and donors.
Communication
- Participate in NTD planning and coordination meetings;
- Gathering stories, case studies and data for the Communications and Fundraising teams to publicise the NTD programmes in DRC.
Research/Monitoring
- Support the design and implementation of NTD research in DRC, including preparing ToRs and supervising consultants.
Representation/Admin
- Represent CBM and actively participate at government NTD meetings;
- Document the discussions and outcomes of internal and external meetings, and follow up to ensure agreed actions are implemented.
The role also will involve close working with the other members of the Country Office team in Kinshasa, with the IEH NTD team and with CBM’s implementing partners in DRC.

3. Requirements –Education, Knowledge and Professional Experience
Essential Requirements
- Doctorate in Public Health or Medecine is preferable, Degree in social sciences or related field is acceptable;
- Minimum of 3 years of professional experience in an international NGO or Ministry of Health in a similar position;
- Have a thorough knowledge of the strategy for the fight against NTD in general and against Trachoma in particular;
- Demonstrated experience in Microsoft Packages 2016 (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Access) and good report writing skills;
- Demonstrated ability in Budget preparation and reporting through a perfect mastery of excel;
- Highly numerate with proven analytical skills;
- Excellent writing and presentation skills (French and English).
- Team player with good interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate in a cross-cultural and multi-faceted environment.
- Must be proactive, seeking to do things differently, and to solve problems effectively and efficiently.
Languages
- English and French: professional proficiency
- Lingala & Swahili are advantageous
Work Tools
