FoodCorps

Who We Are:

Together with communities, FoodCorps elevates the role of food in school for kids’ health and wellbeing. In schools across the country, our AmeriCorps members teach students hands-on lessons and partner with school nutrition teams to support school meals. Building on this foundation of direct impact, FoodCorps pursues policy change that will benefit all of our nation’s 100,000 schools and the 30 million children who eat school lunch every day!

What We’re Looking For:

FoodCorps seeks a Donor Communications Sr. Manager who will work as part of the Marketing and Communications team and in collaboration with the Fundraising team. The role will be primarily responsible for writing and developing donor communications materials and setting digital fundraising strategy.

This position reports to the Sr. Director of Marketing & Communications with the option for fully remote work.

Who You Are:

You are passionate about FoodCorps’ mission and values, and you’re driven by your dedication to health equity and social justice! Writing is one of your strongest skills, and you know exactly what messaging donors want and need. You can write a digital strategy for Giving Tuesday in your sleep (but you’d rather bring big, creative ideas to table while wide awake). You view every communication with a lens of equity and inclusion. You’ve written and managed annual reports and supported fundraisers with well-written collateral.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Serve as lead writer and primary point of contact within MarComms for development of donor communications materials (excluding grant proposals and reports) for institutional and individual major donors, and to keep the fundraising team advised of relevant communications opportunities for donor audiences.
  • Collaborate with Director of Philanthropic Experience and Operations to develop donor communications strategy and annual donor communications calendar, supporting periodic input and assessment of needs and priorities of the fundraising team and ensuring alignment and integration with our primary communications calendar.
  • Collaborate with the MarComms team and Director of Philanthropic Experience to set strategy for major digital fundraising initiatives, including Giving Tuesday, peer-to-peer fundraising, and year-round fundraising opportunities.
  • Manage production of and be the lead writer for key donor communications materials, including annual report, annual appeals, monthly donor digest and e-news.
  • Write and edit donor engagement collateral (e.g., event invitations and follow-up, rapid-response emails), maintain annual and evergreen donor materials (e.g., cases for support, pitch sheets, program/initiative overviews, talking points, gift acknowledgment letters, go-to meeting/grant materials).
  • Collaborate closely with internal teams to ensure accurate, up-to-date, and aligned messaging, including Evaluation for impact metrics, and Brand Partnerships for partner activations.
  • Review and maintain public-facing language about FoodCorps related to fundraising and donor partnerships, including talking points, online charity profiles, donor websites, and other related channels
  • Co-lead development and implementation of grassroots giving program with Director of Philanthropic Experience and Operations.

Skills of the Ideal Candidate:

  • 7+ years experience in donor communications
  • Strong writing skills, with deep experience writing content geared toward donors
  • Experience setting digital fundraising and marketing strategies
  • Excellent project management skills
  • Passion for the work and mission of FoodCorps
  • Experience with inclusive, equitable communications
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a very collaborative team

How to Apply: Applications will be accepted until our ideal candidate is identified. To be considered, submit your résumé and cover letter through our hiring site at http://foodcorps.hiringthing.com/.
