Mission

The DEI (Diversity, Equity & Inclusion) Regional Focal Point will work under the Cell 3 management and in close cooperation with the DEI Coordinator in Geneva, to ensure the adoption of a diverse, equitable and inclusive culture in OCG missions from an operational and HR perspective, in order to contribute to the global change by playing an essential role in the dynamics, plans and groups creativity.

Main objectives

In close cooperation with Cell, missions & projects responsible as well as DEI Coordinator, the DEI Focal Point will:

  • Acts as a DEI partner mainly for Cell 3 missions and projects and other Cells when needed
  • Builds a strategy to foster an inclusive and equitable culture in the region
  • Supports missions & projects to set priorities, to elaborate contextualized DEI strategies and accompany them throughout the implementation and transformation processes
  • Follow up with projects to ensure patients and communities are protected and involved in projects planning and implementation process
  • Works with HR actors and hiring managers at mission & project level and in collaboration with OCG HR Department to ensure mixity at all levels, inclusiveness and equal opportunities
  • Helps missions & projects to put in place suitable structures and mitigation measures to address mismanagement, abuse of power and other form of discriminations
  • Monitors and evaluates the DEI implementation in the region to constantly adapt to changes in context and evolving priorities

Operations

  • Actively participate in the projects/missions PoA debates to ensure DEI is considered in planning
  • In collaboration with relevant stakeholders, support coordination and field teams to ensure that communities are involved in key discussions and decision making, and that MSF messages are sensitive to local reality and culture

Recruitment, learning and development

  • Support recruitment teams (missions & projects) to establish more inclusive policies and procedures in line with OCG Recruitment Principles and practices
  • Support PDMs to enhance visibility and opportunities for staff development and advise how to integrate DEI lens in career management

Culture shift

  • Acts as “memory and guide” for the field to ensure a sustainable DEI culture in missions and projects
  • In collaboration with L&D, the Cell and mission leaders, supports the mission the development of improved management skills and capacities, raises awareness through regular DEI / multiculturality trainings and ensures new staff are properly and systematically briefed about these topics
  • Builds a community of practices in the region to allow experience sharing
  • Collaborates closely with ABU/CRAC teams to prevent cases of abuse of power, harassment and discrimination in the region

Monitoring and evaluation

  • Using HR data, monitor the progress of DEI country specific action plans and analyzing trends
  • Ensure regular reporting and communication of results with key stakeholders, also sharing best practices and identifying points of improvement

Terms of Employment

  • Fixed-term contract, 12 months
  • Field-based position with visits to the headquarters in Geneva (Flying contract)
  • Practical working conditions in the field are in accordance with the MSF OCG volunteer manual.
  • Gross monthly salary: CHF 5,500 for a 100% position (proportional to the occupation rate)
  • Ideal start date: As Soon As Possible
  • Benefits: Health insurance and living expenses in the countries of intervention and at headquarters, paid according to internal regulations.
