IREX seeks a qualified Specialist in Gender Equality and Social Inclusion (GESI) to provide programmatic GESI support for three Ukraine programs. This position supports the management of a program(s) in the field; supports the development of project work products, to include but not limited to, program timelines, budgets, reports, and other products/documents as Identified.

Your Background & Skills

  • Bachelor’s Degree in gender or women’s studies, international development, social science, or another relevant field, advanced degree preferred.
  • Minimum 3+ years of relevant experience working on gender and/or social inclusion programs.
  • Preferred experience working with donor-funded programs in Ukraine.
  • Familiarity with USG GESI strategies, frameworks and requirements preferred.
  • Demonstrated technical knowledge related to gender equality and social inclusion, including relevant laws, guidelines and regulations in Ukraine and international standards.
  • Demonstrated understanding of veteran support system in Ukraine and experience of working on veteran reintegration or veteran support projects is preferred.
  • Speaking, reading, and writing proficiency in English and Ukrainian.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, ability to interact and cooperate effectively with a large and multicultural team.
  • Demonstrated experience with data collection, data analysis and presentation of findings for intersectional gender analyses or GESI analyses. Proficiency with visualizing intersectional data preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to facilitate dialogue and work constructively with a diverse range of actors and to accommodate divergent interests and agendas in a multi-cultural environment.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to multitask.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent cross-cultural and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Able to handle multiple priorities, work independently and as a team member with the ability to take initiative, problem-solve, meet deadlines, and be flexible.
  • It is preferred for the candidate to be based in Kyiv.
  • Must demonstrate valid proof of unrestricted authorization in Ukraine.

Your Daily Tasks

  • Promote, design, implement, and manage GESI activities across all program components for three programs.
  • Provide expertise in GESI and female empowerment for the three programs, including program teams, donor, partners, and other stakeholders.
  • Adapt IREX methodologies and/or develop training curriculums and tools and train partners and consultants on GESI topics, including inclusion best practices, Do No More Harm principles, safeguarding and prevention of sexual exploitation and abuse (PSEA) of underage and vulnerable participants, to ensure GESI is mainstreamed in program activities.
  • Oversee, monitor, administer day-to-day management and roll out of GESI-related training and curriculum development project activities.
  • Lead GESI capacity building and targeted trainings for subgrantees and be the focal point for VR, VIA, and URRF subgrantees and partners on inclusion-related questions as well as on PSEA.
  • Develop GESI-related tools, including presentations, evaluations, manuals, guidelines, policies, and other necessary materials in Ukrainian and English.
  • Oversee accountability mechanisms for meaningful inclusion across program component areas.
  • Drive innovation of resources created under VR, VIA, and URRF programs.
  • Close collaboration with program communications team, coordinate program outreach to and recruitment of young women and marginalized groups, including ethnic minorities, youth, persons with disabilities and persons who identify as LGBTQ.
  • Coordinate with program communications team to create outcome-focused materials to publicize results and amplify the voice of marginalized groups.
  • Oversee coordination of training events, including material design and printing, ensuring that objectives and targets are met on time and within budget.
  • Contribute to program reporting and budget monitoring; and other tasks as needed to ensure accountability mechanisms for meaningful inclusion across program component areas.
  • Manage evaluation contracts and agreements with outside vendors.
  • Apply inclusion best practices to design data collection instruments, data analysis, program learning initiatives, and other MEL activities with staff and partners.
  • Integrate gender and inclusion requirements into bidding, procurement, and partner orientation materials.
  • Train the program staff on GESI-related approaches and ensure that the program teams know how to efficiently use these approaches in their daily activities.
  • Other support duties as needed.
