Petco is looking for a great leader to help launch and lead the next addition to the Petco DC network. Our new Import and Logistics Distribution Center based in Jurapa Valley / Mira Loma CA. will utilize state of the art technology and robotics automation to support the entire Petco network of Distribution Centers throughout the US.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • With your talented team, you will be engaged in and LEAD the daily activities of the Distribution Center Partners in one or more functional work units such as Picking, Shipping, Receiving, etc. to include training, scheduling, assignment delegation and daily review of work to ensure that assigned duties are completed accurately and in a timely manner.
  • You will organize and direct the activities of all distribution center departments including Order-picking, Shipping, Receiving, Returned Goods Inventory, and Quality Control to ensure timely and cost effective operations and adherence to company policies and procedures.
  • Evaluate workflow needs and inventory activity to manage the allocation of employees between departments.
  • Train, develop and review supervisory performance to ensure a motivated and effective team.
  • Coordinate with merchandise buyers and traffic department at the corporate office as well as transportation carriers to ensure that merchandise is available to stores as needed through appropriate stocking and shipment of inventory from the DC.
  • Monitor and maintain the sanitary condition of the distribution center, taking action as required to achieve a viable, effective sanitation program. Abide by all state and federal regulations. Partner with pest control service provider to ensure that the facility is maintained to food-grade levels.
  • Ensure a clean and safe working environment.
  • Special projects as assigned.

Nature of Supervision:

Functional guidance is shown on the overall mission of the distribution center, but daily supervision is rarely given. In addition, the incumbent is responsible for the overall distribution center activities in the absence of the Director of Distribution.

Supervisory Responsibility:

The nature of this position entails supervising one or more front line leaders and partner teams in the ILC, this includes ongoing training and assignment delegation. The ILC Operations Manager is accountable for the engagement, performance, productivity and overall partner experience and success during their employment with Petco. They play a key role in ensuring all performance evaluations, development, retention, initiatives are implemented and effective as well as traditional recruiting, selection and performance management activities.

Education/Experience:

The minimum educational background of an applicant to this position is two years of college at an accredited institution or equivalent experience. A four-year degree in business, management or logistics is preferred. In addition, a qualified applicant will have a strong working knowledge of basic distribution center management principles, including scheduling, budgeting, accounting relationships and inventory control procedures through experience. At least 10 years of distribution center/warehouse experience is required.

Work Environment:

While some job duties are performed while seated indoors, the majority of the time is spent in the distribution center, where exposure to heat, cold, dirt, dust, fumes and noises should not be overlooked. The incumbent may also be required on occasion to work in the warehouse where there may also be risk of injury resulting from improper procedures.
