JOB CONTEXT:

HI has been active in the field of Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) for over twenty years, implementing and promoting inclusive approaches that ensure protection of groups most excluded and most affected by disasters. The increased frequency and intensity of disaster events due to climate change is posing unprecedented threats to poor communities and most vulnerable groups, calling for greater investments and innovative approaches

YOUR MISSION:

Under the responsibility of the Protection and Risk Reduction Technical Director/Manager, as DRR-CCA Specialist:

  • You are an expert who ensure strategic technical guidance, support and control in your scope of expertise.
  • You provide standards and methodologies, provide advices, on the job training, and distance mentoring.
  • Ensure and control application of technical quality framework to guarantee optimal outcomes and impact of projects.
  • You promote innovation, research and professional development.
  • You contribute within your technical division to the implementation of the mandate and the 10-year strategy of Humanity & Inclusion.
  • You ensure that synergies within the sector and outside are identified and fostered.

YOUR PROFILE:

  • You hold a master’s degree in Disaster Risk Reduction / Management, Climate Change Adaptation, International Humanitarian Assistance or related fields.
  • You have minimum 7 years of experience in DRR and/ or CCA, integrating experience abroad in low and middle-income countries.
  • You have experience promoting the resilience of essential services impacted by climate and environmental hazards
  • You have technical knowledge about locally-led DRR practices, risk analysis and planning, risk mitigation and adaptation
  • You have good written and oral institutional communication in French and English
  • You have strong interpersonal and intercultural skills
  • You are flexible and reactive

  • Type of contract : Open ended contract (CDI), Full-time
  • Location: Lyon, Paris, France ; London, United Kingdom ; Brussels, Belgium ; Silver Spring, Maryland*
