The McIntire School of Commerce at the University of Virginia is seeking a dynamic, engaging, and team-oriented individual to join the school as Director of Undergraduate Admission (DUA) in a collaborative and creative Student Services Office. This key member of the McIntire community represents and promotes academic programs to prospective students, families and a host of other audiences external to the School. The DUA leads all facets of the McIntire Office of Undergraduate Admission and is responsible for the strategic and operational vision that drives recruitment and advising of prospective undergraduate students. As part of this strategy, the DUA will create innovative and engaging programming for historically underrepresented populations in business and have the opportunity to lead and instruct the COMM Cohort program, McIntire’s flagship recruitment program for underrepresented students. Overall, this role is instrumental in helping students understand how business education can help them achieve their goals and use these skills to positively change the world. This role involves collaborating and contributing in a team environment in order to provide the highest level of service possible while maintaining a commitment to continuous improvement. McIntire and the Student Services Office offer a dynamic, flexible, and student-focused work environment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree and at least 7 years of experience in admission, advising, recruiting, student affairs or related fields, within a higher education setting. 12 years of experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Masters Degree in counseling, higher education, business or related field preferred.
  • An appreciation for business education and how it may be used as a catalyst for change.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Creative, problem-solving approach to work.
  • Interest, knowledge, skills, abilities, or experience that support excellence through diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • Expertise in using data and conducting analysis to understand and respond to trends by making both programming and operational changes.
  • Aptitude to learn and communicate Commerce School requirements curriculum and educational trends.
  • Exceptional skills in working effectively with diverse populations of undergraduate students and their families in championing the McIntire School.
  • Capacity to work in a fast-paced environment manage multiple projects, prioritize a variety of responsibilities and work efficiently within and across teams.
  • Proficient in MS Office suite programs including Office 365 and have experience with or the ability to learn the Slate admissions system and other platforms as needed.

Anticipated hiring range $70,000-$90,000
