Position Overview:
The Director of the Central Asia Programme is responsible for the projects and activities executed within the Programme. The selected candidate will be expected to develop the Programme further, building upon the present portfolio of projects and activities. The Director will be responsible for managing at least one Project Coordinator, who is responsible for approximately ten researchers. The Programme Director will report directly to the Management Board. Further plans and programmatic developments will be revealed to selected candidates at the interview.
Whilst this is currently an unpaid role, this is a senior role within the organisation. This role is ideal for someone looking to remotely demonstrate leadership and development in an international environment alongside their other commitments.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Manage the Programme, its projects and activities, incl. administration
- Engage in project development and grant writing to sustainably expand the Programme
- Organise webinars within the Programme’s specialisation
- Promote the Programme online and offline
- Assist with the recruitment of staff within the Programme
- Support the Project Coordinators where required
Qualifications:
Mandatory
- Passion and dedication to the mission and values of the organisation, result-driven commitment, ability to work in an international team and handle uncertain situations with flexibility
- Master’s degree in international law, international security, peace and conflict studies or other related fields
- Good orientation in the latest developments in Central Asia
- Written and verbal communication skills in English
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, public speaking skills, and ability to convey complex information and messages in a simple way and easily understood by target audiences
Desirable
- Experience in coordinating small to medium-sized groups
- Entrepreneurial spirit with out-of-the-box thinking to propose new initiatives
- Willingness to continuously learn and develop new skills
- Previous experience with non-profit organisations and project management
- Experience with hosting and organising online events
- Experience with grant writing
