Position Details

Merakey is seeking a dynamic Director of Student Training. By utilizing a team-based model, this role will provide leadership, consultation, and training in organizational efforts with regard to training of student interns; facilitates the integration of students into the daily operation and functioning of Outpatient mental health clinics.

Training

  • Designs, develops, and implements of the training program at Merakey, to include:
  • Plans didactic seminars, recruit and coordinate presenters from both Merakey staff and the larger therapeutic community.
  • Conducts Trainee Orientation for trainees and interns covering Trainee Policies and Procedures, Merakey Policies and Procedures, Merakey forms and referral procedures, trainees’ and interns’ role in interfacing with the larger clinic community.

Supervisory

  • Provides Individual Supervision to Student Interns
  • Provides Group Supervision of trainees and interns
  • Assesses the clinical skills and supervisory needs of trainees and interns.
  • Monitors and supervises the appropriate assignment of the trainees’ and interns’ clinical cases, and transfer of cases as necessary and appropriate.
  • Establishes ongoing contact with trainees’ and interns’ supervisors
  • In coordination with team members, ensures trainees and interns deliver the highest level of clinical service in compliance with professional standards of practice and ethical principles.
  • Designs, coordinates and implements periodic evaluation and feedback procedures for trainees and interns and their supervisors.
  • Oversees the adequate documentation of all treatment records written by trainees and interns, including initial assessment reports, progress notes, supervisory notes, and termination summaries.
  • Remains the point of contact during clinic hours for management of clinical needs and reporting, to include crisis evaluations and intervention, incident reporting, etc.
  • Provides some licensure supervision for Fee For Service Therapists.

Operations & Administration

  • Main point of contact between Merakey Internship program and Merakey Site-based clinics.
  • Meet regularly with the Directors of Outpatient clinics to establish and implement systemic decision-making processes that facilitate staff input and communication on matters related to site functioning.
  • Maintain cooperative interactions with other clinical and support staff.
  • Participate in clinic performance improvement activities.
  • Facilitates all onboarding activities for new trainees in collaboration with site-based clinic.
  • Assist with ongoing training, updates, consultation, and troubleshooting with Electronic Medical Records to trainees and interns.
  • Assist the Outpatient Directors in effective dissemination of information to staff.
  • Keep abreast of legal liability issues relevant to the provision of clinical services and work to ensure compliance with highest ethical standards and legal mandates in all areas of service delivery.
  • Oversee the assurance of compliance with all policies and procedures.
  • Manage complaints against student interns, to include those from clients, insurance companies, etc.
  • Must be willing and able to travel between outpatient clinics in Southeastern PA.

Requirements

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:

  • Clinical master’s degree with a concentration in the Human Services field required.
  • PhD or PsyD in Psychology required
  • Proven exceptional working knowledge of evidence-based treatments for mental health conditions, in particular Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and Solutions Focused Therapy.
  • Ability to work through brief client contacts as well as to make quick and accurate clinical assessments of mental and behavioral conditions.
  • Ability to demonstrate collaborative practice with team members utilizing conflict resolution and chain of command as necessary.
  • Demonstrated intermediate skills within all Microsoft Office software and the ability to learn new technology quickly.
