Build Health International (BHI) has a unique opportunity for an experienced, motivated, and hands-on Director of Finance to lead BHI’s finance and accounting team. This position will be part of the senior leadership team and work closely with BHI’s international staff, Board of Directors and mission driven partners, reporting to the Co-Founder/ Managing Director.

BHI is a global health nonprofit that designs, builds, equips and manages sustainable healthcare infrastructure in some of the most resource-constrained regions of the world. With an experienced staff of architecture, engineering, and construction experts, we are dedicated to providing high-quality, dignified and accessible health care infrastructure to the most vulnerable communities in collaboration with our international nonprofit partners. BHI is committed to sustainability, health equity, and local capacity building in all our work, and is quickly becoming a major force in Global Health internationally working closely with Partners in Health, The Global fund, WHO, The Gates Foundation, UNICEF, UNITAID, and many others.

RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING:

Management:

  • Lead and assist in enhanced use of financial technology systems and tools.
  • Manage, mentor and develop accounting team (currently 3 people).
  • Manage and drive all activities related to budgeting, reporting, and analysis.
  • Oversee the annual budgeting process, monthly reporting analyses, including financial reporting, and budget development related to grant/donor proposals.
  • Oversee the investments portfolio and manage movement of funds between operating and investments accounts.
  • Oversee compliance with grant agreements and financial reporting to pPartners.
  • Manage and oversee all accounting functions including but not limited to Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Payroll and Benefits, Fixed Assets and Revenue.
  • Collaborate with BHI leadership and project managers to support NGO partner relations.

Reporting:

  • Prepare quarterly and annual financial statements.
  • Responsible for completion of annual audits including financial audit, workers compensation audit and any grant/project related audits.
  • Work with an external vendor to prepare annual federal tax returns 990’s and MA Form PC. Ensure timely filing of the annual tax returns.
  • Responsible for quarterly financial reporting to the Board of Directors.

Required skills and qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field
  • 8+ years of experience in accounting field with increasing responsibilities, including leading some or all aspects of an accounting function
  • Thorough understanding of U.S. GAAP
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel
  • Excellent research and analytical skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work with a high degree of independence in a fast-paced, dynamic, and evolving environment
  • Strong attention to detail and sense of urgency
  • High level of integrity, a strong work ethic, and confidence
  • Ability to oversee multiple projects simultaneously and manage competing priorities
  • QuickBooks Contractor experience is a plus but not required
  • Non-profit and construction accounting experience is a plus but not required

Compensation: Salary range $110,000 – $125,000. Competitive base salary commensurate with experience, as well as health, dental, disability, 401(k), and vacation benefits.
