A member of a national Individual Giving team, the Director is part of a national major gift strategy group and will report directly to the Executive Director, Philanthropy and work in the New York office of CARE, USA. Additionally, the Director and their supervisor will partner closely with the Associate Vice President who manages the East coast team.
The Director works with individual high net worth donors and family/private foundations to secure funding for CARE’s mission through unrestricted/flexible funding, restricted/designated gifts focused on CARE’s core programs, planned gifts and support all campaigns. This role will focus on current donors and also be expected to work with prospects and secure new donors. The Director will be responsible for developing and implementing cultivation, solicitation and stewardship strategies for his/her portfolio of donors/prospects.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage an active and dynamic portfolio of approximately 100-150 donors and prospects.
- Develop and implement strategic engagement and solicitation strategies for both donors and prospects.
- Solicit outright gifts of $10K+ with a goal of focusing on gifts of $25k+ to meet (or exceed) annual and quarterly fundraising goals.
- Support a community-building strategy that fosters meaningful relationships, learning, and peer-to-peer connections for major donors in key markets, including CARE City Committee and Circle 75 members.
- Partner closely and directly with other CARE teams (Planned Giving, Prospect Management, Grants Coordination) to stay apprised of opportunities to build relationships with key and influential donors and investors.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum of 5 years professional experience in a fundraising role
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience
- Experience at a large non-profit and or/ an international NGO
- Experience on a Major Gifts team/in a Major Gifts role
- Experience with Salesforce as a donor CRM
