Director of Collective Conservation Impact

The Director of Collective Conservation Impact will help the Global Conservation Division ensure that WWF’s common conservation strategy is impactful by providing specialist knowledge and inputs related to metrics, indicators, data development, knowledge management and reporting. She/he will collaborate closely with colleagues in the Division of Finance and Quality Assurance (which is responsible for operationalising the M&E system) and Country Office Management (which is responsible for office systems and reporting) to ensure that WWF International has a seamless, high quality system of metrics, measurement and consistent reporting. The Director of Collective Impact will operate with considerable flexibility to the highest professional standards.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

• Leading WWF’s global efforts to define, develop and implement key performance indicators and a system that allows measurement of the organization’s Impact.
• Co-designing and delivering a system of conceptual and results-based frameworks, together with performance metrics and indicators, that will encourage and facilitate convergence across the network.
• Recommending knowledge management and data sharing approaches to support the development and delivery of metrics and reporting, and supporting their development where appropriate.
• Providing advice on WWF’s existing conservation strategy, 2030 Goals/Outcomes and 2025 Targets, and related impact monitoring and reporting, working with colleagues in other Divisions to define impact and make recommendations for any modifications and improvements that may be necessary.
• Working closely with colleagues in the Division of Finance and Quality Assurance, ICT, and Country Office Management to deliver a seamless, high quality system of metrics, measurement and consistent reporting.
• Advising on ways in which qualitative and quantitative measures/metrics can be used for internal and external reporting purposes, and to assess and refine strategy and implementation on an ongoing basis.
• Monitoring external trends around biodiversity and conservation metrics and monitoring to inform WWF’s work in this area in close collaboration with the Global Science Team.
• Representing WWF in internal and external fora and processes concerned with biodiversity and conservation indicators and metrics, and conservation standards where appropriate.
• Supporting the GCD, the WWF Conservation Directors’ Forum and other WWF structures on an ad hoc basis as may be required by the GCD.

Required Skills and Competencies

• Expertise in results-based frameworks and performance metrics that will be of relevance to WWF.
• Familiarity with Integrated Planning and Performance Management approaches.
• A strong familiarity with strategy and related tools such as Theory of Change.
• A good understanding of nature and its conservation and especially its relationship to human development and well-being.
• Analytical thinking, with strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize.
• Strong communication, interpersonal and networking skills.
• Knowledge of biodiversity/conservation standards, metrics and indicators.
• Ideally, familiarity with working in an NGO and/or Network organization.
• Experience of working in an international and/or inter-cultural environment.
• Experience of knowledge management and sharing platforms and tools.
• Reliable, flexible and with a problem-solving attitude.
• Ability to work in distributed and virtual teams and workspaces.
• Fluent in English, with excellent writing skills; other languages an advantage.

Required Qualifications

• A higher University degree in a relevant subject.
• At least 20 years’ work experience in a relevant function.
