Novocure is a global publicly-traded commercial-stage oncology company developing a profoundly different cancer treatment therapy called tumor treating fields (TTFields) for patients with solid tumors. TTFields therapy is a non-invasive, novel, antimitotic treatment modality which utilizes proprietary technology attempting to slow or reverse tumor progression by inducing tumor cell death. Novocure’s commercialized product, Optune, is approved for the treatment of adult patients with glioblastoma (GBM) in the USA, Europe and Israel. Novocure has ongoing or completed clinical trials and is further expanding its efforts into several other solid tumor indications – non-small cell lung cancer, pancreatic cancer, ovarian cancer and other types of solid cancers.

Senior Manager, Market Access and Public Affairs – Nordics

The role of the Senior Manager, Market Access and Public Affairs – Nordics is t o provide leadership to a team of commercial, medical and clinical professionals to optimize the development and communication of evidence regarding the value of Novocure’s innovative technologies. The person will develop the strategies and tactics to achieve reimbursement for Novocure’s products in the Nordic region with initial focus on Sweden and Denmark. This position will also involve leading the tracking of healthcare policies and working with local consultants, governments, health technology assessment agencies (HTA), and trade or professional associations to influence the development of policies to enhance the position of our technologies. Exceptional ability to plan for the development and use of data and evidence to support a value proposition and localize to country-level is required. The individual will implement the national Market Access and Public Affairs/Policy strategy, proactively develop, and implement the local pricing and reimbursement framework for Novocure oncology products in order to achieve and maintain reimbursement conditions favorable for patients and the company. This position will be responsible for coordinating with our commercial & clinical teams as well as global/regional value (i.e., HEOR, HTA) teams.

Novocure operates with global function integration of its business functions. The Senior Manager, Market Access and Public Affairs – Nordics will report to the Head of EMEA Market Access & Public Affairs and coordinate with other Market Access & Public Affairs leaders in the region and global. The role will be a leadership position within the Regional Market Access team and in the Nordics that require close alignment with commercial leaders.

Your Responsibilities

Market Access strategy:

  • Lead the development and execution of the national market access, public affairs/health policy and payer value strategy, plans and tactics, including related functional strategies, such as HTA, health economics, economic evidence generation, strategic pricing, KOL/payer engagement, launch sequencing and market access publications across the geographical responsibilities
  • Develop the strategy & tactics necessary to ensure that governments and health insurances provide coverage and adequate pricing for Novocure’s products
  • Develop the education efforts and advocacy campaigns, in partnership with colleagues, needed to effect changes in coverage and reimbursement
  • Support the development and implementation of the market access strategy for Novocure oncology products (including pricing and reimbursement), in line with global/regional and local requirements
  • Collaborate with the strategic market access to develop and implement the local health economics strategy in line with the global plan to provide perspective on effectiveness, costs and broader impact for new and existing products enabling decisions to be made by payers around resource allocation
  • Participate in the development and implementation of a cross-functional strategy to promote the value proposition of Novocure’s current and future products

R Eimbursement Filings And Pricing Negotiation

  • Collaborate with strategic market access and support the development of HTA & reimbursement dossiers including health economics models (cost-effectiveness, budget impact, etc.)
  • Identify opportunities to generate data or build on existing medical and epidemiological data to support negotiations with stakeholders in the reimbursement and pricing process
  • Define and execute primary and secondary market access & health policy research and assessments to generate payer & policy maker insights and incorporate an in-depth understanding of various stakeholder needs
  • Participate in the development of pricing proposals consistent with the global/regional pricing strategy
  • Serve as key lead on pricing and reimbursement negotiations with the regional/local payers and assessors (HTA agencies across the region)

Public Affairs Strategy

  • Defines Public Affairs activities, goals and objectives, roadmaps, alliances and partnerships with internal and external key stakeholders in the area
  • Maintain general knowledge of health care policy activity regional/locally and on a regional/national level, interpret for business impact and participate in cross-functional projects internally or externally to influence and enhance position within changing environment
  • Monitoring the regional/national political environment, carrying out analysis of relevant regional/national legislation in the sector and ensure its dissemination to the company and follow-up
  • Establish and maintain excellent relationships to key external stakeholders like payers, policy makers & politicians, HTA agencies and other assessors, Ministry of Health & other governmental bodies, economic influential KOL’s, patient organizations, medical associations, medical technology trade organizations, etc.

Your Profile

  • Graduate / College degree in business administration, Health Economics, political sciences/public policy or biomedical science
  • Minimum of seven years of experience and working knowledge of medical device/pharmaceutical reimbursement and pricing issues, policies and trends preferably in the Nordic Region
  • Demonstrable track record of developing & implementing innovative/breakthrough access, public affairs and/or pricing & reimbursement strategies and opportunities
  • Profound knowledge and track record in payer negotiations and leading policy stakeholder discussion in the Nordic Region
  • Experience working with clinicians, payers and HTA agencies on evidence based customer solutions
  • Excellent knowledge of health policy/public affairs and reimbursement environment, and payer/HTA decision making pathways in the region, including in-depth knowledge of payer/HTA evidence and value requirements
  • Strong strategic thinking and analytical skills, being able to synthesize complex issues and large amounts to quantitative and qualitative information into logical recommendation and strategies
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to objectively analyze and resolve trade-offs between projects.
  • Leadership, influencing, advocacy, problem-solving and negotiation skills at senior level
