Overview

The Director, Managed Care is involved in establishing and implementing Mercy’s managed care strategy as well as developing and managing relationships with health plans and other stakeholders. This includes coordination and oversight of commercial, Medicare Advantage, Medicaid Managed Care and other third-party managed care contracts and payer relation activities. The Director, Managed Care will be responsible for ensuring communication to internal and external constituents, as appropriate, regarding programs, services and other relevant information. This is an office-based position.

Duties and responsibilities are performed in a manner consistent with our mission, values, and Mercy Service Standards.

Qualifications

  • Experience: 7+ years of managed care contracting experience
  • Required Education: Master’s Degree in health care or business administration
  • Other: Ability to demonstrate a high degree of independence, self-start and strong organization skills. Must possess a high level of finance acumen, analytical skill and efficiency, problem solving ability, be adept at exercising sound judgment, as well as effective and timely decision making. Well-developed oral and written communication skills and the ability to organize, express and transmit ideas with clarity is essential. This role requires a high level of knowledge of health care delivery systems, the local and national health care environment, strong relationships with individuals in the industry and an understanding of the dynamics of hospital-physician relations. Must have the ability to work under pressure with minimal supervision, multi-task to manage complex tasks simultaneously, complete projects in a timely fashion and meet deadlines. A quick study and the ability to a gain a thorough understanding of Mercy services and market potential is critical, as well as maintaining high ethical standards and being a person who elicits respect from others.
