Internal Audit

The Audit Director is an executive responsible assessment of risk and the delivery of assurance and advisory engagements based on their assigned area. This executive position is responsible for collecting risk insights from industry, company, client, peer and other sources to holistically assess current, emerging and potential business and technology risks within their assigned area. The incumbent will actively participate in advisory engagements, including interviewing stakeholders, reviewing documentation and writing reports. The Director promotes enterprise values and culture as well as employee engagement within the team. This role is also responsible for nurturing strong professional relationships with key technology, business and audit executives to learn, educate and positively influence. This position will represent audit in company strategic initiatives and committees. The Director collaborates with peers and other senior audit leaders to meet audit goals by identifying and leading continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities And Duties

  • Collaborate with their Managing Director, peers and Senior Managers to develop, challenge and support each other in the delivery of valuable, high-quality Advisory engagements.
  • Identify, plan, execute and deliver strategic advisory engagements within assigned areas of responsibility in accordance with audit methodology, budgets and timelines.
  • Contribute to the annual advisory plan based on holistic industry, company and assigned area risk insights.
  • Identify and lead team and departmental initiatives that grow skills, contacts and exposure.
  • Build and cultivate Internal Audit, business and IT executive relationships to actively foster a strong risk culture, understand TIAA’s business, identify risks and contribute to a constructive Internal Audit brand.
  • Ensure a holistic and business-oriented view in preparing reports and issues through concise, precise and accurate writing.
  • Lead challenging engagement negotiations with clients, peers and senior audit executives in a proactive, professional and productive manner.
  • Pursue and actively participate in industry leadership roles and activities like Board positions and speaking engagements.
  • Provide timely positive and constructive feedback to fellow advisory team members to continuously cross-develop the advisory team.
  • Incorporate development opportunities in scheduling and advisory work assignments.
  • Incorporate innovative techniques, including data analytics, in engagements, continuous monitoring and where possible to increase scope, quality and timeliness of work performed.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • 5 years of experience in public accounting, diversified financial services and/or consulting services.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 7+ years of experience in public accounting, diversified financial services and/or consulting services.
  • Undergraduate degree in applicable field (e.g. business or information technology)
  • MBA or graduate degree is preferred.
  • Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Chartered Accountant (CA), Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA). If the candidate does not have a certification, the candidate will obtain one of the above within 18 months.

Base Pay Range: $128,200/yr. – $213,700/yr.

Actual base salary may vary based upon, but not limited to, relevant experience, time in role, base salary of internal peers, prior performance, business sector, and geographic location. In addition to base salary, the competitive compensation package may include, depending on the role, participation in an incentive program linked to performance (for example, annual discretionary incentive programs, non-annual sales incentive plans, or other non-annual incentive plans).
