Director, Global Procurement and Logistics

World Central Kitchen, Inc. (WCK) seeks a talented and committed Director of Global Procurement and Logistics to lead WCK’s purchasing and logistics strategy and operations, including developing and improving the teams, facilities, equipment, and processes to ensure they are operationally sound and meet the unique challenges of disaster relief, domestically and in remote impacted environments. Part of a growing and geographically dispersed team, the successful candidate must possess a sincere desire to be an innovative contributor at this critical stage, thrive in a dynamic and challenging environment, and have a demonstrated ability for being effective functionally and strategically.

This role will report to the VP of Relief and oversees the Global Relief Operation Centers, relief supply chains, fleet, and related systems. This role requires a sincere commitment to WCK’s mission, frequent and occasionally extended travel, including to activations, and flexibility for cultural, language, and time zone differences.

This position is intended to be based in Capitol Heights, Maryland, in the Washington DC region.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Effectively lead and support the Procurement and Logistics teams as we expand and enhance our operations
  • Quickly create and implement effective solutions in challenging and unique global environments
  • Successfully introduce process and facilities improvements to enhance quality and service delivery
  • Introduce, develop, and manage suppliers, including selection, evaluation, and cost and quality control
  • Oversee the bid solicitation process, service contracts, leases, and purchase orders for all acquisition needs
  • Ensure the quality, safety, and regulatory compliance of operations, facilities, equipment, and processes
  • Ensure procurement and financial activities are properly conducted and documented
  • Prepare regular procurement plans and progress reports to key stakeholders

Requirements:

  • Related B.A. or the equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience
  • Minimum of 10 years project procurement or related management experience, including internationally
  • Demonstrated leadership, analytical, and organizational skills with a geographically dispersed organization
  • Demonstrated entrepreneurial skills and experience in meeting tight deadlines in dynamic environments
  • Demonstrated ability to sustain a proactive can-do attitude, from self and from others
  • Demonstrated advanced cross-cultural communication and leadership skills
  • Advanced computer skills including proficiency in Google, Microsoft Office, IMS, and GIS programs
  • Ability to travel, including internationally, quickly, and on short notice for extended periods of time
  • Current passport and driver’s license

Preferred candidates will also have a related Master’s degree, leadership experience in relief operations, Food Protection Manager certification, and proficiency in at least one other language in addition to English.
