Director, Donor Operations

Food for the Hungry

Lead, oversee, and implement our donor operation and communication strategies and goals. Responsible for developing and implementing strategies to enhance our donor operations team while leading and expanding our Volunteer Program. Ensures we have the right resources and tools in place to meet overall departmental objectives and goals. Will support the Development Operations leadership on the implementation of strategic objectives, which will cross multiple teams and departments.

Principal Responsibilities

Donor Operations Management

  • Responsible for developing, driving, and achieving the strategy and goal for the donor operations teams.
  • Provides vision, leadership, coaching, and training to the Donor Engagement, Donation Processing, and the Donor Communications management team.
  • Promotes and grows a culture of recognizing and rewarding the management teams innovative and creative contributions.
  • Collaborates with other members of the Development Operations Leadership team to ensure the perspectives and ideas of each team are represented as strategic objectives are being developed.

Volunteer Program

  • Responsible for partnering with the Volunteer Program Supervisor to enhance, expand and promote our volunteer program both internally and externally.
  • Provides vision, leadership, coaching, and training to the Volunteer Program Supervisor.
  • Promotes and grows a culture of recognizing and rewarding innovative and creative contributions from the Supervisor and our volunteers.

Strategic objectives/Budget ownership

  • Develop deep and trusted relationships with key stakeholders within and outside of donor operations.
  • Oversee and manage the annual operating budget for Donor Operations.
  • Represent the interests of and provide input on behalf of the Donor Operations unit on cross-enterprise projects or task forces as assigned.
  • Drive towards results – approach everything with a drive and energy with an eye on outcomes.
  • Monitors and assesses compliance with the Donor Operations team.

Job Level Specifications

  • Vibrant personal relationship with Jesus Christ, a Christian commitment to serving the poor and in full agreement with FH’s Christian beliefs.
  • Demonstrated computer-operating skills, including proficiency in Google platforms, Microsoft Office products, and virtual technologies such as Skype and/or Zoom.
  • Ability to sit/stand at a computer for up to 8 hours a day doing repetitive motions on a keyboard.
  • Familiarity or ability to learn FH’s WorldLink platform.
  • Excellent people skills including warmth and sensitivity, conversational, able to relate to and effectively communicate with people from different cultures (at various levels within the organization).
  • High integrity and a strong sense of professional ethics.
  • Able to self-manage a diverse and dynamic set of responsibilities, proactively solve problems and / or suggest viable solutions while advancing goals and objectives.
  • Excellent organizational skills, and ability to plan and coordinate work, ensure the efficient flow of projects and processes.
  • Strong people management skills / interpersonal skills with the ability to motivate, teach and mentor staff and volunteers.
  • Comfortable and persuasive when speaking before both large and small groups.
  • Ability to interact positively with all levels of the organization and across organizational and cultural boundaries.
  • Ability to prioritize and handle multiple projects simultaneously.

Experience

  • At least 7 years of experience in business operations with at least 5 of those years in a leadership role.
  • Non-profit ministry experience is a plus.

Education/Certifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or related field required.

Language

Proficiency in spoken and written English. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

Supervisor Responsibilities

Directly supervises staff. Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints, resolving problems, etc.

Typically, successful candidates are hired at a salary rate up to midpoint of the range, based on relevant experience, internal equity, and budgetary allowances.
