PostgreSQL DBA – Azure Linux

NOTE: 100% REMOTE, work in EST time zone office located in Montreal, Quebec

Status: 6-month contract

Rate $85-89/hr, 8 hours/day, 40 hours/week

Description

Seeking a SQL DBA to join the Platforms team. In this position, you will be working in a fast-paced environment with a team of software professionals to deploy state-of-the-art web-based business applications for customers. Keen attention to detail, problem-solving abilities, and a solid knowledge base are essential.

Responsibilities
Design, create and document relational SQL databases
Manage SQL Server databases in the Cloud
Configure and maintain database servers and processes
Configure and maintain SQL Cluster Failover
Monitor system’s health and performance
Ensure high levels of performance, availability, sustainability and security
Analyze, solve, and correct issues in real time
Provide suggestions for solutions
Refine and automate regular processes, track issues, and document changes
Assist with query tuning and schema refinement
Provide support for critical production systems on and off hours
Perform scheduled maintenance and support release deployment activities after hours
This position will sometimes require after-hours and weekend availability.

Requirements
University degree in a Computer Science or equivalent work experience.
5+ years as a SQL Server DBA or similar role
5+ years PostgreSQL Server Administration
5+ years Linux
5+ years Windows server, including Active Directory
5+ years Backups, restores and recovery models
5+ years SQL Server cluster failover
5+ years Performance Tuning and Optimization (PTO)
5+ years High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) using failover clusters for SQL Server
Azure experience – mandatory
