The International Institute for Environment and Development (IIED) is a policy and action research organisation. We promote sustainable development to improve livelihoods and protect the environments on which these livelihoods are built. We specialise in linking local priorities to global challenges. IIED is based in London, Scotland and Europe and works with partner organisations and local communities in Africa, Asia, Latin America, the Middle East and the Pacific.

We are now looking for a Digital Officer to join us on a permanent, full-time basis.

The Role

As a Digital Officer, you will provide pivotal, all-round support to our organisation’s web content, digital presence and online communities.

Working as part of our Communications Team of 16, you will help to build IIED’s digital profile by contributing to our digital communications activities and creating compelling content for our online platforms, including our main website.

You will ensure all content is up to date, SEO-optimised and filled with appropriate imagery, as well as measuring its effectiveness and performance.

Additionally, You Will

  • Produce and edit short film clips, videos and audio, including podcasts
  • Support the creation of bespoke social media content and help manage our social media channels
  • Develop user journeys and site experiences, taking user experience best practice into account
  • Provide content to support our programme of events
  • Proactively keep abreast of industry trends and digital innovation

About You

To be considered as a Digital Officer, you will need:

  • At least two years’ experience of working with digital content, social media and online platforms
  • At least two years’ experience working with civil society organisations in marketing or communications roles
  • Experience of writing for digital
  • Excellent social media skills
  • Excellent knowledge of Drupal content management system, Google Analytics, Adobe Photoshop/Premiere Pro and MS Office tools
  • Strong data and communications statistics collection and analysis skills

Experience of hybrid working and using asynchronous tools to collaborate would be beneficial to your application, as would fluency in other languages in addition to English, such as French or Spanish.
