IsraAID

Location: IsraAID HQ (Israel)

Duration of contract: 50% employment, beginning with 1 year contract

Start date: Immediate

Salary: 1100 USD

About IsraAID:

IsraAID is an international non-governmental humanitarian aid organization headquartered in Israel. Since its founding in 2001, IsraAID has worked in emergency and long-term development settings in more than 60 countries around the world. IsraAID responds to emergencies and helps communities affected by crises rebuild their lives and their futures, together. From hurricanes to refugee crises to global pandemics, we mobilize quickly and collaborate with communities at the deepest level, accompanying them on the road from response to recovery to long-term resilience.

Duties and Responsibilities:

The Digital Information Officer at IsraAID will be responsible for managing the process of developing mobile applications, bots, and other software to deliver critical information to members of communities affected by humanitarian crisis. As part of IsraAID’s team of technical experts, the Digital Information Officer will lead the process of designing, developing, and implementing user-friendly resources delivered through various digital platforms, to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of our humanitarian response. This will include projects such as:

  1. Identifying low-code and no-code platforms that can be used by IsraAID’s non-developer staff around the globe, and providing ongoing supervision, training, and support on using these platforms.
  2. Developing (or upgrading), from scratch, mobile applications for use in humanitarian response efforts. For example, this may include products that deliver course material in remote, off-grid settings; products that assist in identifying cases of malnutrition; and products to collect and collate assessment efforts in the aftermath of a humanitarian disaster.
  3. Developing, from scratch or using a ready-made platform, an SMS or WhatsApp bot that delivers critical information to community leaders and guides them in their day-to-day work with community members. This may include integration with additional digital resources, such as referral systems and case management platforms.
  4. Identifying & developing other digital software products that address barriers to humanitarian intervention, alongside IsraAID teams from around the globe.
