MS ActionAid Denmark

Are you a hands-on digital facilitator with experience in building global, digital communities? And do you find inspiration in creating engaging content within a bold civil society organisation?

ActionAid Denmark supports youth-led activism and social movements through the Global Platforms (GP) in partner countries and through our new global movement support unit called MOVE. We are a team of 15 people supporting movements, youth networks, organisations and individuals.

In recent years we have been determined to explore the feasibility of supporting stronger digital communities that transcend and bring together the activists we work with nationally and globally. We will create more connectedness between activists worldwide, and for that we are looking for a hands-on digital expert that is ready to engage directly in the communities we aim to create.

The tasks

As the Digital Engagement Specialist you will work closely in collaboration with AADKs Storytelling Specialist based in Tanzania and the thematic leads coordinating the digital communities within movement building & organising, feminism, climate justice and participatory methodologies. As the Digital Engagement Specialist, you will be reporting to Head of the GP Secretariat, and you will be responsible for the following tasks:

Coordination

  • Coordinate with relevant colleagues to develop a joint work plan that includes structures, processes and guiding principles for digital community facilitation.
  • Contribute to defining success criteria for digital communities and continuously monitor, evaluate and generate learning from these communities.
  • Support the GPs in creating and sustaining similar communities at local level.
  • Develop and implement concrete tools enabling more digital participation and interaction – for instance, sharing short handheld stories in closed and secure Instant Messaging Apps.

Production and analysis

  • Produce digital content including contributing to the monthly production of AADK external newsletter ‘The Young Activist’, writing of Change Stories (e.g., for annual Danida reporting) and creating short learning and discussion pieces.
  • Support the development of a digital community framework hereunder a new website that can present the GP Network.
  • Regularly update GPs SoMe channels calling for digital engagement and conversations around key political areas and current affairs
  • Data analysis of AADK SoMe interactions while continuously trendspotting and engaging with other youth activism communities
  • Facilitating annual online storytelling workshops for digital community activists and supporting young activists in creating short stories for GP SoMe.

Qualifications

It is required that you have:

  • Demonstrated solid experience within digital engagement including building and facilitating digital communities.
  • Excellent ability to produce short, engaging and flawless texts
  • Knowledge of or previous active participation in youth activism communities, feminism, social movement support and climate justice at national and global level.
  • Experience of managing and curating SoMe platforms including tracking and analyzing relevant data.
  • Experience with Facebook Business Manager and Google Analytics for analysis and reporting, sharp on Facebook, Instagram, Display, Google Ads and Youtube.
  • Full proficiency in written and spoken English.

It is an advantage if you:

  • Have working experience in at least 2 different countries.
  • Have good analytical skills with a pragmatic and independent approach.
  • Are systematic with an ability to develop, execute and evaluate within a long planning horizon.

We offer you

  • A 4-year appointment on full-time including up to 2-3 months of travel per year.
  • A position in an ActionAid country where there is a Global Platform, ultimately depending on AADK strategic priorities and the respective local conditions.
  • Flexible working hours, with the possibility of working from home.
  • A workplace with a purpose, working for creating political and social change.
  • A lot of great, fun and dedicated colleagues.
