Position description: Inclusive Peace is looking for an experienced Digital Media Officer to produce timely, informative and creative content to promote our work to support inclusive peace processes and drive positive change in the field. We are looking for someone who is passionate about facilitating conversations among diverse audiences and exploring new approaches to encourage collaboration. Ideally, the postholder will possess good knowledge of international affairs, peace and conflict, and peace networks and movements. They will bring a range of creative and technical skills and experience in growing audiences and driving engagement.

Activity rate: 50% (half-time)

Period of Contract: 12 months

Duty station: Remote work (eligible time zones: CET +/- 3 hours; operational in the Middle East, African, and European time zones).

Responsibilities

  • In close coordination with the Communication Officer, Graphic Designer and the Inclusive Peace team, design, develop and post regular content on Inclusive Peace’s digital media channels, and develop and update content on the website and other relevant platforms. Produce content based on the organisation’s ethos and track record of publishing and sharing evidence-based research and guidance to reach target audiences.
  • Monitor social media channels daily and liaise with the Communication Officer and team to interact and respond to comments. Collate data and draft analytic reports to identify strategic opportunities to increase engagement and position the organisation at the centre of relevant debates and initiatives.
  • Develop weekly and monthly social media plans and campaigns to support the organisation’s key work, highlight relevant international days and events, and promote the organisation’s purpose to advance inclusive peace.
  • Maintain a strong knowledge of developments and innovations in digital media, and apply creative and strategic techniques to increase engagement.
  • Provide training and guidance to the team to reach target audiences and boost interactivity and engagement. Develop clear and viable workflow processes for the review and approval of content.

Essential Experience

  • Experience producing, editing and disseminating evidence-based, factual and timely multimedia content for online audiences, and tailoring content, including managing translations, to meet audiences’ communication needs.
  • Experience using advanced tools for online publishing, including content management systems and social media authoring tools like Hootsuite or TweetDeck.
  • Strong computer skills (Google Workspace; Adobe InDesign, Photoshop and Adobe Premiere Pro for basic video editing).
  • Experience working in sensitive and fast-moving communication, advocacy and fundraising environments and meeting tight deadlines.
  • Proven editorial ability to generate newsworthy content, exercise sound ethical and political judgement and adhere to data protection and safeguarding guidelines.
  • Demonstrable skills in stakeholder engagement, coordinating content internally and among different networks, including joint communication outputs with relevant stakeholders and partners.
  • Experience designing and running social media campaigns, including developing customisable assets for stakeholders.
  • Experience monitoring, interpreting and reporting web and social media analytics to inform content design, planning and strategy.
  • Excellent command of English (written and oral comprehension).

Desirable experience

  • Experience developing communication materials for peacebuilding organisations and networks. Good knowledge of the field, including gender inclusion.
  • Additional language(s) of interest: Arabic, French, Spanish, Russian.

Qualifications

A degree in communications, political science, international relations or a related field. A minimum of three years of relevant professional experience in journalism, advocacy, social media and communication in fields including: peace and conflict international development, human rights, and/or humanitarian action. A portfolio of work demonstrating digital content and social media outputs, including results demonstrating success growing new audiences and increasing engagement.
