The Public Engagement and Campaigns Division of Human Rights Watch (HRW) is seeking a Digital Advertising Officer. The Public Engagement and Campaigns team is the digital mobilization hub for HRW and oversees multiple campaigns and public engagement initiatives each year.

The Digital Advertising Officer will be responsible for assisting in all advertising, petition and email marketing programs executed by the public engagement team. The Officer will work closely with our Digital Engagement Strategist to help grow our paid media and email programs. They will also be responsible for strategizing and executing cost-effective and creative ad campaigns across multiple global markets.

The Officer will serve as the hub of the team overseeing the implementation of Salesforce Marketing Cloud and Engaging Networks as well as maintaining the team’s campaign calendar. The Officer will work closely with our Digital Engagement Strategist to coordinate paid media efforts to maintain the health and growth of the email list. The Officer will also be responsible for leading the team in email and petition best practices and ensuring that the organizational and campaign goals are met.

This is a fixed-term, full-time position for two years, with a possibility of extension. The Officer will ideally be based in New York or Washington, D.C. and reports to the Digital Engagement Strategist based in New York.

Due to COVID-19, many of our global offices are currently operating in reduced capacities. The successful candidate may be required to work remotely if local mandates necessitate. We recognize that this moment, during the pandemic, is a uniquely difficult time for most people, particularly those with caregiving responsibilities, and we aim to be as flexible and supportive as possible in both the recruitment for and onboarding of this position.

Responsibilities:

1. Support the Digital Engagement Strategist to help manage the day-to-day operations for social media platforms’ paid advertising for multiple campaigns;

2. Manage, and efficiently set up budgets, goals, design, languages for awareness, traffic and engagement through paid social (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and LinkedIn);

3. Work with platforms if issues arise with creative approvals and help problem solve;

4. Independently perform pacing reviews and daily ad optimizations while monitoring and reporting out on trends in key performance metrics;

5. Manage relationships with internal teams and help communicate about the paid process including creative, reporting, and analytics;

6. Create reports and provide analysis on key metrics by platform;

7. Grow, maintain, and engage HRW’s advocacy and campaigning email list;

8. Design and implement advocacy email campaigns in Salesforce Marketing Cloud and manage the advocacy email marketing calendar;

9. Build and maintain campaign petitions in Engaging Networks;

10. Write all advocacy email and campaigns petitions with particular attention paid to tone, voice, clarity, and design;

11. Support institutional strategy on audience growth in coordination with the Marketing team;

12. Develop and support supporter journeys in coordination with the Marketing, Digital, and Campaigns teams; and

13. Perform other responsibilities, as required.

Qualifications:

Education: A bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Marketing, Digital Technologies, Communications, Business, or related field is required.

Experience: A minimum of three years of experience in paid media, email marketing, digital marketing, and/or audience development is required.

Related Skills and Knowledge:

1. Direct experience working with the Facebook Business and Advertising platforms is required.

2. Strong organizational skills with proven ability to multitask and handle multiple projects simultaneously and accurately is required.

3. Strong quantitative and analytical skills, comfortable working with data is required.

4. Proficiency in Microsoft Suite is required.

5. Experience in digital performance marketing and managing social campaigns for multiple clients is required.

6. Data-driven in your approach to solving problems, with a persistent desire to analyze, understand, and take action is required.

7. Excellent grasp of copywriting for advocacy and campaigning audiences is required.

8. Excellent oral and written communication skills in English is required.

9. Demonstrated ability to collaborate, manage multiple projects, and meet deadlines is required.

10. Passion for global human rights and public engagement campaigns is required.

11. Experience with Salesforce Marketing Cloud and/or Engaging Networks is preferable.

**Salary and Benefits:**HRW seeks exceptional applicants and offers competitive compensation and employer-paid benefits. HRW offers a relocation assistance package and will assist employees in obtaining necessary work authorization, if required; citizens of all nationalities are encouraged to apply. This position is based in the United States and the salary range would be USD 60,000- 68,000. Salary ranges outside of the United States vary based on location.
