You will be working with cross-functional teams to deliver increased value across our Cloud products. A key aspect of the role will be coaching the engineers to optimize delivery, develop their skills and foster a generative culture.
This is a hands-off position in terms of coding, but having a strong base in software engineering and agile delivery is a must. You will be line manager for a collection of software engineers and quality engineers across a couple of delivery teams, responsibilities will include setting objectives, performance appraisals and developing the careers of the team members. You will also get involved with and lead cross department initiatives to share knowledge and foster best practices.
Main responsibilities
Coach individuals with their professional development to nurture a growth mindset and culture of psychological safety
Promoting and coaching good DevOps practices in order to help the team deploy frequently, reduce lead time and resolve incidents quickly
Conduct ongoing one-to-ones, objective sessions, and formal performance review meetings to document, track and develop individual’s progress
General line management responsibility for individuals in their care
Establish own accountabilities and metrics for other activities to ensure that success can be measured and defined for non-managerial time
Recruitment of engineering roles into the product teams
Driving and being involved with a number of cross departmental
Experience
Excellent people management skills, with an ability to get the best out of those you manage
An extensive background in Software Engineering, ideally in the public cloud with a modern programming language
Strong understanding of TDD practices
Proven ability to communicate, manage and influence stakeholders
Good understanding of software engineering best practices
Qualifications
BSc or equivalent in a software engineering discipline
